Jigawa Govt Demolishes Redeemed Church, Others Amid Adeboye’s Resignation

Jigawa Gov. Alhaji Badaru Abubakar
The Jigawa State Government on Wednesday has demolished places of worship in the state including the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), and Lord Chosen Church in Dutse.

This is coming barely 1 week after Pastor Enoch Adeboye resigned as Redeemed Church General overseer in Nigeria over a law by the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) which stiputed 20-year maximum tenure for heads of religious groups and civil rights organisations.

Explaning why the churches were demolished, the Executive Secretary of Urban Development Board, Alhaji Garba Isa in Jigawa stated that the churches were built without permission as required by law.
He said that because of the sensitivity of the matter, the board met with the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Jigawa chapter, emirate councils and the Ministry of Justice, among others.

“We gave not less than three notices to the affected churches to stop development because they failed to obtain permit from the relevant agency of government,” he said.

He said that six structures had been earmarked for demolition and would be done in batches.

According to Isa, the development control department under his agency had the mandate to pull down any illegal structure in the state capital and urban towns.

the existance of nigeria as it affect religion has to be redifined, meanwhile, 'christian states' should respond in same measure if not this rubbish wil consume us all before we know it. El rufia is begging for military deployment in Kaduna state to consoludate their gains not to maintain peace nd protect lives.

Always remember everyone what's good for the goose is good for the gander. It takes nothing to look into public records and see what other building weren't approved.

Let me prophesy: "Children of perdition will come to this thread and scream Islamisation and Muslim Agenda"

Chai, this is really sad. Religious bodies and organisations will be breaking the law hoha and if they are reprimanded will begin to play the victim. Why can't they just go and collect permit for their building? Na so E hard reach? If they got permits, and their buildings is still demolished, ehen, na me go dey the forefront of the protests

You will see Mosques on Friday, blocking a whole road, major street oh because of Jummat...

Nigerians, na wa for we

I am a christian and a member of RCCG.

There is nothing wrong with demolishing any building (be it church or mosque even the Palace) that does not meet up with the Government requirements at all levels. (All thing being equal)

This will help every body plan well and have a beautiful, safe and secure city.

Meanwhile, I hope all the mosques in Jigawa obeys this rule!

it is well!

“We gave not less than three notices to the affected churches to stop development because they failed to obtain permit from the relevant agency of government,”

The churches should go and acquire the relevant permits. Nothing to see here.

Re: Jigawa Government Demolishes RCCG And Lords Chosen Church by Nobody: 5:14pm On Jan 12, 2017
The first 4 posters are very myopic.
You didnt read the part where they said they have met with CAN and that the buildings are ongoing development, they were told to stop but they didnt.
But instead you start judging with yah sentiments.
Learn to think objectively, thats the only way Nigeria will grow. Stop hating

Make dem go collect permit den.....but na like this una dey bring demolition of buildings without approval to front page? I hope this news is not to create inter-religious buhahaha. And pls note.....Adeboye is still the GO of RCCG.....and the appointment of a National Overseer is not as a result of FRCN policy......RCCG has been going thru some leadership tussle since the day Pastor Adeboye said the person to succeed him has not joined the church.
