During the symposium and book reading- a programe organized by the English student association of Obafemi Awolowo University,a lot of programs were put in place for the endearment of the students, programs like poem rendition, drama performance and lots more.

Mr Adebayo, an alumni of the Great Ife community gave a brief book reading of the recently published book of the event main speaker- My name is Okoro, a nove based on the Nigeria civil war some forty years ago.

The main speaker of the event – Mr Sam Omatseye editor-in-chief of the Nations Newspaper gave a talk titled: Language and Communication: Prospects for Students of English and literature. The alumnus of department of history said “Biafra war was a a justifiable war but Ojukwu was tactless with it” he said. He further opined that Buhari has not been giving fair hearing to those agitating for the cause and he’s only a democrat when matter favours him. Sam Omatseye an acidious journalist, advised students not to allow people define their destiny and encouraged them to use their pen to shape the world. The programme also witnessed Dean of Faculty of Arts, Prof. Gbemisola Adeoti who was said “l am glad that Mr. Sam Omatseye is back home”.
The President of the Association, Afeez Gbadamosi (Afiz GBA) said “we are happy to achieve this and we promise to keep our department alive with educative programmes academically, morally, socially and politically”.

The program has therefore placed students on a level for successive regeneration.
