It was all smiles, dance, games and dance as the refurbished Korean Cultural centre, Abuja celebrated her Lunar New Year.
The countenances of guests could tell the appreciation they felt as they watch and played various games that came with the celebration.
Many of the participants went home with lots of gift and others received consolation prizes.
According to the Director, Korean Cultural Centre, Mr Han Sungrae, he said Seollal is one of the most significant traditional Korean holidays.
‘It is the New Year day in accordance with the lunar calendar. It is a time when families come together to merry, feast, and show respect to elders and their ancestors.
‘Seollal is a special occasion foe Korean people, this year we celebrate Seollal on 27th of January. One significant aspect of Seollal event is the Sabae performance, it entails the younger generation paying respect to the elders by taking a deep bow , a well performed Sabae attracts a gift, thereafter the elders offer their blessings and wishes for prosperous New Year,"he concluded.
The event which entails friends and well wishers of the centre coming together to merry and observe the Sabae performance “New Year bow" was carried out at the centre as guests watch in admiration and excitement.
High point of the event was the playing of games Yutnori which involves the use of 4 wooden sticks flat and rounded on the other side, Jegichagi which looks like badminton ball and played without letting it touch the ground and Tuho requires the use of wooden arrows a narrow pot.
