sometimes kidnaps are random but in most cases are targeted i.e those whose families can pay huge ransom. its usually advicable not to flaunt one's lifestyle out in the open esp on the internet, anyone can be watching

You're right. One must apply discretion and caution in Nigeria of today.
It's likely this is targeted because it's mentioned the boy just came back from schooling abroad.

We have to be security conscious now in Abuja. I know Engr. Oribuyaku and we are all worried about this matter. The kidnappers were in Police uniform and they disguised as if they wanted to arrest them.

To all, please be careful of anyone in police or army uniform.
Kidnappers in Police and Army uniform have taken over Abuja now.
Shout for help whenever these men try to arrest you so that your neighbours or passer-by can come to your rescue.

Kidnappers in Nigeria will soon get what's coming for them.
yes my broda, i agree with u...death penalty should be adopted for kidnappers ASAP... once traced or caught they should be killed quickly,..no deliberation,... reduce their population...and make it a dangerous risk and a suicidal mission to think of armed robbery, talk not of kidnap......kill any kidnapper....that should be the sentence...government and lawmakers are doing practically nothing if they dont make this policies and laws.. thats why most countries in asia today are quite free from such brigandage.....Nigeria as a society must step up with heat and become deadly and dangerous for criminals, robbers and kidnappers...they should be no mercy... then you can really claim to be fighting heinous crimes....pro-activeness is the way forward for security agencies...clear the street of thugs, raid a hideout today....

Those ones move around with security nau. The ordinary masses are a soft target. U no dey watch National Geographic Wild etc. The predator lions carefully monitor the buffalo herd, and select the weakest - the wounded, weary, or very young. They cant afford the stress of attacking the strong bulls.

There are very few "abroad" who have seen $300K and these idiots believe the ones they kidnapped have it. I hope they do not kill anyone out of frustration, once they realize they will never see the money.

This is very sad. How did Nigeria degenerate to this level within just two years? Our Abuja used to be a safe haven of sorts, famed for its easy night life and relatively low crime rate. What exactly is going on? How did we get here?

Too sad.
