Fellow Nairalandar, A travel agent is ripping me off. OMG, €5,000? Wat for? I'm a Police corporal serving in Lagos state mobile police, (mopol 49). I've a cousin in Italy whom i wanted to travel and to stay with. He(cousin) introduced me to a travel agent that the travel agent usually help people travel to Italy. We delibrated on the price and later agree on €4,500(euros). Now he is asking me to add additional €1,000 that d price of things had changed. I nw agree to pay the agent €5,000 and he had promised me that i'll b travelling by January 2010. I learnt that he wil issue me a Business Visa for 6months. My Cousin told me that once i get to italy, everytin is solved. €5,000 is over a million Naira. Wat do i do? Can i get work within these months? I can stay with my cousin even upto 1year of visit without having problem with accomodation, feeding, clothing, etc. A friend introduced me to this site on 5/12/09. What advice can my fellow nairalandar offer me, im comfused. If by any means i find mysef in italy, will i be having any problem getting a work permit and any unskilled job with business visa? I've HND, to get a study visa, can i apply for m.sc directly? If no, wat kind of admission am i going to get with HND? Pls help! Thanx, God bless u all.

My fellow Nairaland, im not too Desperate traveling abroad but what will a graduate of Accountancy(HND) b doing when i travel? I finished sch since sept 2006, NYSC in 2007/2008. I've been Submiting applications in almost all d firms in lagos metropolis but has never been called upon for any interview. Though the bottom line is that i want 2 travel either to Norway, Finland, Ireland, Germany. My sister who is a Woman Police Corporal has promised to finance my trip. D problem is that i don't ve a relative nor friend in any of this countries. I met a Travel Agent who had promised to help me travel and also promised to link me up with someone in Finland,germany Norway. He told me everything will cost me 650,000:00 naira excluding flight Ticket for a Schegen Business VISA and i'll attend d interview myself. I no wan com bak wen i travel sha. The visa will last for either 3 or 6 months. Can i be able to get any job within this months whether skilled or unskilled job. I don't mind doing odd jobs like fruit picking in d desert, farming, any legal job. The agent also told me i'll have to change my age frm 28yrs to the range of 35 - 38yrs. Don't u think getting a job with that age will spell hell to me? Hw soon can i get a working permit within 3 or 6months. Fellow Nairalanders, please help me out, its very urgent. U guys should b Honest. As im sending this thread, im still looking for job. Though i intend to future my education if i can start work for my M.sc or even as a fresh student in any university to study Nursing. ABEG, MAKE UNA HELEP ME with Good advise.

My brother, dont ever think of going to italy. People over there are lamenting seriously. No job, nothing. Is like u are just trying to waste ur money. If u can stil raise 5000 euro in nigeria legally, y cant u stay in nigeria. u can live in italy for 10years without getting ur bearings. Pls, ask before u venture to it. Poeple will not tell u the real picture, many poeple are doing illegal runs there. Many Nigerians are in the prison in Italy because they have no other means to survive. I was in Italy 2001, i sorry for 80% africans living there. This is main truth, if u try it, u will definately remember my words.
