Currently happening now in futo about increase in school fees for first year and final year There is unrest in the Federal University of Technology Owerri as students of the institution are on the rampage. This is coming at a time when the students are just resuming first semester of the academic calendar and there has been a steady increase of general school fees by N5000 yearly for the past seven years. The new VC Professor Eze from the department of Physics escaped through the back gate of the institution to avoid confrontation and linching. FUTO is well known for dogmatic practices by the elite and powers that be; so much so that even the student union government has be infilterated. Only students from rich homes and relatives of Professors become S.U.G members. Men of the Nigerian police force are on ground but there has been no casualty First year school fees were topped 15,000 on the newly increase school fees of 50,000 making it 65,000 And final years but students are angry about the stuff Even police has opened fire and tear gas just to scare them along futo Senate road
