Let Yar’Adua Speak From Hospital Bed —Nnamani

Former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, has called on President Umaru Yar’Adua to address Nigerians through a video conference from his hospital bed in Saudi Arabia to end the on going speculations about his state of health and ability to continue in office.

Nnamani stated this in a statement published in a national newspaper today by the Good Governance Group, an Abuja-based organisation of which he is the Chairman of the Steering Committee.

The former Senate President noted that lack of information about the President’s health as well as “his failure to comply with constitutional process of authorising the Vice President to serve as the Acting President of the country, as provided in Section 145 of the constitution further sharpens divisions and encourages all manner of political permutations, including some contemplated unconstitutional undemocratic and clearly desperate manipulative arrangements.”

“The absence of any form of direct contact between Nigerians and President Yar’Adua is a major source of legitimacy for all speculations and contemplated unconstitutional permutations,” Nnamani said.

The Enugu State-born former Senator also said that statements made by some members of the Federal Executive Council, FEC during its last sitting indicated that nobody is in charge of the country contrary to the impression that Vice President Goodluck Jonathan is holding forth for his boss.

He specifically quoted the statement credited to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Yayale Ahmed that “issues that would require Mr. President’s express approval, contacts are being made and such approvals do come” as “disturbing.”

Nnamani said it confirmed the fact that there is “lack of legitimate presidential authority in Nigeria.”

The former Senate President challenged the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and FEC to show restraint in their reactions to statements made on President Yar’Adua’s health.

“If for any reason President Umaru Yar’Adua is faced with any kind of health condition, which requires his official absence or indisposition to serve in official capacity of the President of Nigeria, it is important that both FEC and the legislative branch of government take appropriate steps to address the matter based on the provisions of sections 144, 145 of the 1999 constitution,” he concluded.

I think whoever made such request shd be relieved of his position, he is a dumb.
Before YarAdua left office for where ever he has gone, he informed those in power with him, and he is as good as being on vacation, which is his own time and that of his family and asking him to address them is foolish.

They need to worry about following the constittion and let Jonathan take over till the sick baby could be back, if he ever come back.

Good talk by Nnamani

Enough of the childish talk about stability. We don't even know if we have a leader anymore.

If Yar'adua is alive, let him address the Nation from his sick bed and squash the rumour about his health.

If he can watch football, he sure can address Nigerians through video conferencing.

Instead of standing up for what is right, you will see paid spent forces like Gowon trying to lecture others on stability and unity forgetting that these things can't be achieved if their is no transparency.

Is this something yaradull need someone to remind him of?
Has he not heard the political instability his absence on sick bed is creating in Nigerian, has he not heard the romour of his death, has he not heard the masses are requesting for his resignation for his incapability to rule the country. If ever he is still alive, he should have cleared the air by making a video conference and address to masses through that means. Why all we get from the paper is one of his aides said this, his wife said this, his sister said this and yaradull himself said that, all a report from someone, how can we know is directly from the sick man? In Nigeria we know even a dead man also can speak through his wife and his sisters, becoz we all children, surely we will believe it.

I've said it severally here that among us are these crooks savant, family and the best enemy of Nigeria. you can imagine how fool we are in this country when you read some nounsace comment on logical expression by former senate president. if it were this serving lawmakers during his time what was rejected then couldn't have happened and when this fair man is talking we should listen and fashioned out an important points instead of saying trash.
