so you want to relocate to obudu ranch or tinapia? where do you want to live in when you relocate? inside the valleys or mountains? undecided

i am not looking for shanties pix, i just want to see how the normal street looks like. cool

I think these pictures are mainly for people to at least visit as tourist not necessarily for relocation
At least Nigerians/Africans have options for vacation without the hassle visa agents

Great Job Rossike, That's my state. My only fear is that now that we have been stripped of our oil blocks I wonder how we can sustain the beauty of that state without any support from the oil revenue.
Re: Beautiful Calabar In Pictures by THEAMAKA1: 3:32pm On Dec 16, 2009
too many pics of Tinapa Park!
any pics of the actually calabar city?
about 75% of these pics posted where of the Park, thats not enough.
let me stop complaining. cool
or does anyone have some personal pics from their own collection to share? grin
Re: Beautiful Calabar In Pictures by faoni572(m): 3:51pm On Dec 16, 2009
I was very surprised the first time I went to calabar, I nearly doubt I was in Nigeria because it is very beautiful. Some calabar streets have been posted on page 1.

Seeing is believing, if you don't believe the pics then just pay a visit to calabar.

Not true Amaka. Rossike's first post is actually of Calabar city and Obudu ranch.
Obudu ranch is in Cross River State and about 15 mins flight from Calabar. I have
seen only three Tinapa pictures there.

His second post however, is mainly Tinapa.

Those six flags poles pictures is not Calabar although, they are plans to develop
a Six Flags branded theme park in Calabar.

Calabar should never be compared to Abuja. In Nigeria, Abuja is way ahead
of all other cities including Lagos.

GOSH!!! I WASNT BEING LITERAL. SHEESH.
dont have a cow.  grin
but basically the point im trying to make is that most of these pics arent of the actual calabar city. just a lot of tourist attractions.
my estimate was wack, but i think you get the point.

I was happy as a student there. A GREAT MALABRESS!

I'm a fan of the city.So very peaceful.

Was there in December 2007 from 24th to 27th. It was fun raised to power 2.

Will post my pictures later as the the camera I used then isn't here. Not home right now.

I'm on holiday!

Thank you! angry the fact that Calabar has nice parks, does not mean Calaber is beautifull. Besides the caption reads "Calaber in Pictures" not "Calabar parks in pictures" Post any picture you have of calabar and let us be the judge.

I wonder when the Kenyans make their thread and people like myself and others asked for a more balanced view, we were tagged jealous and "haters", pages and pages of nothing but the very best of Kenya, all people did here was marvel at the pics.

We Nigerians do the same, ALWAYS, people here (Nigerians) request for the "less than flattering" pics.

Why the inconsistency people?

Just something I noticed thats all.

I can understand your point, but people dont live
in Amusement parts and holiday resorts & hotels and safari get-aways!

When a society is developing or industrialising then then can
build such things and we can understand ie china at the moment
and other part of east asia and even now in south america ie brazil.

But when a nation or state within a nation fails
to solve the fundermental issues of its society and
it taking loans and loading the people with debts
to build theme park and other amusements for the "rich"
then i have a problem.

You live in london and you have the ability
to go to Alton towers etc
but aleast the wider society is developed and
does not have to rely on showing the world that
we have amusement and fancy resorts to cover
up our internal failures!

I have lived in the eastern part of Nigeria and
been to Calabar and man the Cross river state
Govt has issues to resolve and building theme
park on "Leveraged debt" is not the answer!!!

@martinosi, my point was why people dont demand the same when it comes to pictures about other African countries here?

People here tend to show a very glaring bias against Nigeria in such matters, I wonder why.

Even the Kenyans on their thread enjoy the pics of their country they dont demand that their fellow countrymen show the poorer parts where most Kenyans live.

Why do you think that is the case?

In your answer you didnt actually address the point I was making at all.

DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND HIS POINT?!
he was talking about how there are no pictures of the REAL calabar city in which people live.
people do not live in amusement parks and tourist attactions.
no one is demanding for "bad" pics, but we want to see the actual calabar, not all these parks here and there.
do you get it now? no one is requesting for bad pics.

You will find that although we know the average Kenyan does not live on a game reserve or under victoria falls, or in the richest parts of Nairobi, people lapped up the pictures and did not complain for the most part. Apart from people like myself, who were told its not what the thread was created for.

Here is a video of calabar, called streets of calabar,

Re: Beautiful Calabar In Pictures by saintolaf(m): 12:52pm On Dec 21, 2009
@THE.AMAKA and her likes, It may interest you to know that calabar is a very friendly city and this makes it very attractive to especially first time visitors. This reason is also the leaverage upon which the "destination cross river project" was concieved and built. Basically the transformation of calabar was masterminded by a handful of ingenious individuals, who have positively exploited the political transformation of the nigerian state to the advantage of the people of calabar. This cannot be disputed. The excision from CRS of Bakassi and our oil wells can arguably be said to have been foreseen by our leaders, hence the shift to a tourism based economy. Also note that CALABAR has the honor and priviledge of being the first Capital of Nigeria. It has so much history. CALABAR- C-COME A-AND L-LIVE A-AND B-BE A-AT R-REST, a visit will convince you, not even pictures. Already the grove is on!
Re: Beautiful Calabar In Pictures by THEAMAKA1: 2:37pm On Dec 21, 2009
why are people being so sensitive? i just wanna see pics, gosh! i dont see why some people seem to be all butt-hurt
all i wanna do is see more pics and if anyone has them.
but we know people dont live in tourists attractions, thats why i said if someone has more pics of the regular city that would be nice.
i dont see how that is requesting for "bad pics" so some people need to stop being so butt-hurt cause im simply just asking.
wtf? undecided
Re: Beautiful Calabar In Pictures by londoner: 2:47pm On Dec 21, 2009
The Amaka, there is nothing wrong with what you are saying at all, we all want to see other pics. However you mistakenly thought yourself and martinosi were making the same point when you weren't. There were two different sentiments, if you go back and read.

That was why my direct reply was to martinosi and not you.
Re: Beautiful Calabar In Pictures by THEAMAKA1: 2:52pm On Dec 21, 2009
our points may have been different but the bottom line was, PEOPLE DONT LIVE IN AMUSEMENT PARKS AND TOURISTS ATTRACTIONS AND WE WANT TO SEE REAL PICS.
and i really dont see where he demanded for "bad pics" either.

im tired of coming back to this thread with pointless debates with no pics.
peace, yall is wack.
Re: Beautiful Calabar In Pictures by londoner: 3:36pm On Dec 21, 2009
The Amaka,  you dont have to see it, the conversation had nothing actually to do with you. you just involved yourself for some reason

I actually posted a video of the streets of Calabar for you, which does not show amusement parks etc, , it looks like you were too engrossed in "debate" to have a look, lol

Re: Beautiful Calabar In Pictures by THEAMAKA1: 6:00pm On Dec 21, 2009
well you quoted me so i came back, enough said.
saw the video and that still doesnt stop me from REQUESTING pics.
why are you so sensitive? is it that much to ask for?
you people should just say you have none and spare me the wahala.
boo hoo!
good-bye. tongue
Re: Beautiful Calabar In Pictures by londoner: 6:37pm On Dec 21, 2009
I think you'll find you quoted what I posted to martinosi.

You can search the net just as easily as the next man/woman. Why not look for those pics yourself, since you dont want it in video format?

At the end of the day, you chimed in on a discussion between myself and someone else, without really knowing what was being discussed.
