The ECOWAS court sitting in Abuja, has reportedly dismissed the application filed by the federal government asking that the suit filed by the Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) be quashed.
The suit filed by Nnamdi Kanu of IPOB seeks the court to grant him an unconditional release from detention as well as damages to the tune of $800 million.
This is reported to have caused jubilation among members of IPOB and those sympathetic to his plight.
Kanu’s suit seeks the court to grant him an unconditional release from detention as well as damages to the tune of $800 million.
Channels Television reports that the federal government asked the court to dismiss the case because it is a subject matter before the Federal High Court and the appeal court.
The government said as a result,Kanu’s application constitutes an abuse of court process.
The presiding judge, Micah Wright-Williams, dismissed the application of the government for lacking in merit.
The court said it has the jurisdiction to hear cases of infringement of human rights.

If there is an infringement on someone's right, the person is entitled to claim damages even if the victim is not a citizen.

I think it's too small, he should ask for $2 billion, if you are ready to detain a innocent man despite all court orders to release for more than 1 year, you should be able to pay through your nose.
Under the law in sane countries, the government is equal to the lowest common man. Kanu is not deluded he knows your tyrannic government won't pay dime but I think it will help to confirm that the country is really a zoo which he has proven severally.
