Following InsideMainland’s exclusive look into the spate of cult related killings and the atrocities caused by the gang in Ikorodu community, the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) attached to the Lagos State Police Command have reacted to the investigation.
The Ikorodu community, formerly known for its serenity is now ‘unofficially’ the headquarters of cultism in Lagos if not Nigeria. This is as a result of the over 200 cultism-inspired attacks that was recorded in the area in 2016 alone.
Areas such as Igbogbo, Odogunyan, Ladega, Itun Nla, Anibaba, and Benson; is fast growing into the hotbed of cultism in Ikorodu axis. This is owing to the number of attacks by the rival gangs in these areas in the last few months.
Commenting on the efforts of the Police to ensure security of lives and properties in the community, the Commandant of the RRS, ACP Disu Olatunji disclosed that the “Police and the RRS are doing everything possible to make Lagos safe for everyone of us. We have our officers stationed across parts of Ikorodu and the crimes prone areas for them to easily nip crime in the bud.”
ACP Olatunji continued that “when we get reports of the cult activities and how they strike, we immediately deploy of officers to scene to tackle the issues head-on.
