To make it to the wreckage, the sightseers will fly by helicopter from Newfoundland to the expedition's support yacht in the cold and treacherous waters of the North Atlantic. After spending two days aboard the yacht, they will endure a five-hour dive to the decaying remains of the Titanic on the sea bed on a special 'submersible', designed to reach the immense depths. Here, accompanied by deep ocean experts, they will sail over the ship's deck and should be able to glimpse many of its most famous sights, including its famous grand staircase. The trip will be open to just nine people at a time and comes with an eye-watering price tag of £86,500 a ticket. The Cyclops 2 submersible can seat five people and dive to a depth of 13,124ft (4,000m). Only 140 people have completed the dive to see the Titanic's decaying remains in the century since the ship sank. The wreckage was not discovered until 1985, and the bow and the stern of the boat, which split in two as it was sinking, lie nearly 2,000ft apart on the ocean floor. 2 Likes 4 Shares

The Titanic sank on April 14, 1912, four days into its voyage from Southampton to New York The Titanic is pictured leaving Southampton on April 10, 1912, four days before it went down. 2,208 went on board(Crew and Passengers). 1,503 died. 962 lifeboat seats were required by law. 1,178 lifeboat seats were carried aboard. 2,208 lifeboat seats were needed. One of the first lifeboats to leave the Titanic carried only 28 people; it could have held 64 people. There were 472 lifeboat seats not used. There were enough life-jackets for all 2,208 people, and most everyone was wearing one. 300 dead bodies were pulled from the sea the next morning. They were found floating in their life-jackets. Many other floating bodies were not found because they had drifted off. Very few people actually went down with the ship. Most died and drifted away in their life-jackets. The temperature of the Atlantic at the time of sinking was 31 degrees. This temperature was the biggest cause of death among the population. Orders from the Captain were that, women and children were to board the lifeboats first. 6 Likes 2 Shares

Explorers: Don't mind them, that portion of Atlantic is so cold and filled with alot of icebergs. Seriously explorers, I dey enjoy all your threads, and I think everyone of them deserve frontpage. But Seun and his crew will rather put Tonto Dikeh or Apostle Suleiman topics there 1 Like |
