FG Extends Tenure of 2016 Budget Capital elements

The Accountant-General of the Federation, Alhaji Idris Ahmed has issued a Circular extending the tenure of the Capital elements  of the 2016 Budget until May 5, 2017 or the passage of the 2017 Budget, whichever is the earliest, Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun has announced.

Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies are hereby urged to take note of the content of the Circular.

APC House of Commotion. When Bubu submitted this appropriation bill to NASS late last year, we were told (by NASS) that the bill would be ready by February. We are almost in April and yet APC-led NASS is yet to forward the ratified bill to the Dullard General in Aso Rock.

Whoever knows that old man from Daura should tell him to go fix his problems with NASS o, because it does seem he needs lectures on democracy. A man who's not willing to "compromise" certain values or beliefs (when necessary for the overall benefit of the masses) has no business in a democratic government. His international sponsor and former US President Obama should've told him this before he bowed out of office.

for self vindication of their corrupt self instead of deliberating on our budget n passing it.
so, 2017 budget will extend to may then. so d fisical year of implementation will be complete.

I remember the initial gra gra about passing 2017 budget in December. With this fracas between executive and legislature, they may extend this deadline

This is the best news so far today. The Senate think they can take Nigerians for granted by taking forever to pass the budget. The last extension will end March 31st. At least, with this extension, governance will continue.

Never seen such an undemocratic elected leader like Buhari. Soo rigid, he obviously hasnt read books and history of great leaders else he would know that sometimes you stoop to conquer. He needs to go meet obj for some leadership lessons as far as Nigeria is concerned.

So what happens to the recurrent aspect of the budget? Are we gonna experience foreclosure of government agencies? Or would the government run on illegality of spending money not appropriated for?

The current budget is supposed to expire 31st march 2017,which is tomorrow.After tomorrow,the Federal government would have waited at the mercy of the national assembly to be able to spend any money beyond this period.Its also an impeachable offence for the President to spend any money not appropriated by the national assembly.You know that the National Assembly is currently forcing the hand of the Presidency to sack Magu etc.The budgeting process would have been used by national assembly to force the Presidency to do their bidding.This extension has provided the Presidency an opportunity to continue to spend money pending when the budget is passed.
