How Nigeria Can Learn To Deal With Recession Like America by Judithjovial(f): 10:00am On Apr 04, 2017
Recession: The present economic situation facing Nigeria now have been a thing which drive many nations to greatness, it happened to America and look where they are now.
This article is to help proffer solutions/ways which the American Government tackled Recession boosting their economy globally.
Even as great as America is today, there have been about 47 recessions from 1790 till date, American government have been able to withstand the harsh cycles in the country’s agriculture, consumption, and business investment, and the health of the banking industry contribute to their decline.
It can be recalled how President Barrack Obama helped drag America out of the “Great Recession”. America faced a decline in Clinton’s, Bush and Obama’s administration but the later ability to strengthen the country’s economy played a major role in revamping the American economy.
This is a step the Nigerian government ought to follow; government of a country is the key player to stopping recession and diverts the economy to the path of growth.
The Nigerian government should learn from the list below hoe American government has been able to curb recession.
1. Contain Inflation
2. Encourage Imports of High-Priced Commodities
3. Discourage Borrowings if Inflation is Ruling High
4. Encourage Savings
5. Cut Taxes
6. Reduce Government Expenditure and Focus on infrastructure Development
7. Encourage Export
8. Reduce interest rate
9. Encourage Foreign Direct Investment
10. Ensure peaceful atmosphere conducive to Businesses

Recession can be hard on a nation and isn’t something to be left for the government alone. Companies and individuals have a strong role to play in helping the government marshal out form to eradicate recession.
Government plays a prime action in fighting recession by increasing money circulation, containing inflation, boosting per capita disposable income, ensuring an atmosphere conducive to business, balancing interest rate and other supporting measure for these causes. Companies on the other hand help out by innovating their products and also trying to decrease their margin and increase turnover to rhyme with present situation.
Individuals are now left to tackle recession by working hard, dedicating more time to work and also paying taxes and debt. Concentrate on savings and concrete investment like buying assets with reduced luxury life.
With these I believe we (Nigeria) can overcome this harsh reality of recession facing our beloved country now.
