Silly Parents Corrupt Their Children By Playing Immoral Songs And Music by Orikinla(m): 7:14pm On Dec 27, 2009
It is very pathetic that majority of Nigerian parents do not know the appropriate songs and music to play for their children during birthdays and other occasions.

Is it not inappropriate for parents who claim to be educated to play songs and music meant for ADULTS for their innocent children to sing along and dance and they end up corrupting their children?

Only silly parents will play such psychedelic and pornographic songs of Wande Coal, D'banj, P Square, and other ill-informed Nigerian Hip-hop and Hip Life singers for their children to dance.

Most of these Nigerian performing and recording are desperate for fame and fortune and they careless about morals and scruples, so they are using sex to promote and market their singles and albums. They promote the sex abuse of girls and women by displaying and portraying girls and women as sex objects good for nothing more than fornication.

Is it not preposterous to see girls and women in skimpy dresses or even bikinis dancing shamelessly for men who are fully dressed or in suits?
Then parents want their children to emulate them?
What an irony!

Then listen to the silly ditties and slogans of the Nigerian singers who are always saying they are going mad or what they call “Kolo” over the breasts and buttocks of a pretty and sexy girl or woman.
Only a silly man would go insane, because of the sexuality of a girl or woman AND ONLY EQUALLY silly DJs or VJs will play the CDs and videos of these silly and useless songs.
The Broadcasting Commission of Nigeria (BON) has failed woefully to regulate the programmes of the radio and TV stations, that is why there is no monitoring and evaluation of the content of the songs and musical videos played by the broadcasting stations of different channels.
But parents should know the right songs and music to play for the entertainment of their children.

When silly parents are playing the silly and useless songs for their children and teaching bad examples of behaviour to them to copy and emulate, they should not be alarmed when their children are sexually harassed and spoilt in their early teens.

You have played the pornographic songs and music for them to dance and led them astray to believe and accept this indecency in music, so they will practice what they have learnt.

These are indeed products of the generation of vipers!

i do agree. parents should monitor the kinds of songs their kids listen to especially when they are young and still in your care, even as an adult i cant get myself to listen to some songs and their lyrics. most are filled with nasty and degrading words that objectifies women as nothing but a mere sex object. i find it sad because we are more than that. there is more to us than what is under our legs and up on our chest.

many songs, and commercials are filled with sexual violence against women, showing men domination and treating women as only good for sex and slave, and when young children especially boys listen to such nasty songs, some believe that is how women are suppose to be treated and viewed, which is very bad because many grow up with such mindset.

we own it to our kids to teach them how to become responsible adults and instill in them good morals and good judgments especially in a society where sex sells and women are viewed as second class citizens. we cant always protect them all bad music and commercials and all sorts out there but when you train them to identify the good from the bad, you wouldnt be disappointed for your message will always be with them.

Well said Sissy.

Though in case they do come into contact with these songs before one's desired time, then i think parents should teach them more about appreciating sounds/melodies/words, so that focus would not be on 'girls dancing or guys going around taking crack'. . .

Frankly speaking I thot I was the odd man out feeling this way. Orikinla and ~Sissy~ u've articulated my thots very succintly. I hope some parents are taking note and making adjustments and resolutions.

Close relatives are not left out too cos more often than not it's either u are actually the DJ or u went to get the DJ. Please help monitor want gets played and help the younger ones.
