Interesting read! I agree completely with op's submissions. I've been in Accra for 2weeks now and I can attest to the fact that the country is excessively overrated. I have toured within Accra and the regions and all these places feel so similar without any clear distinction. Apart from the steady power, every other thing is vague, empty and classless. You just can't compare standards. So far from Nigeria in every ramifications. 6 Likes |

LordBailish: Okay o What I do know, as someone who has been to different countries (Ghana inclusive) severally is that in a way, we Nigerians like to over estimate our importance, or what we have on ground Ghana has many positives that Nig don't have, and Nigeria also has done stuffs that Ghana can learn from. Internet speed is better in GH Phone calls are cheaper in GH Their major roads are in a better shape than Nigeria major roads Ghana has light and we don't Ghana is relatively more safer than Ng It's easier to set up business in Gh than Ng Nigeria has money than Gh Ghana educational system is more solid than ours And the list goes on Vague and classless my foot So what are you all saying 7 Likes |

I will say it again! - Let us not underestimate the importance of constant electricity. Without that, we will be a struggling nation. 2 Likes |

this your article is hugely opinionated (you can be a bit realistic whiles stating opinions) and has many factual inaccuracies.. Tamale is the most populous region errh.. Im born and bred Port Harcourt guy, but have schooled in Ghana and travelled wide. They have some great meals (their rice is not that bad as you make it look), the people are far more law abiding, their politics better than ours and their media is very open and free. They have credible Unis (compare the number of us Nigerians in Ghana Unis vrs Ghanaians in Nigerian Unis). I have travelled on many world class streets and highways in Ghana. that country is quickly developing and their ecomony is expanding. Yes they love nigerian songs and movies but which country doesnt. im not a Ghana ambassador but what is this thing Nigerians Aaaaaalways want to talk down Ghana even at no provocation. Dont we have our own business to mind. Dont we have oir own PMB matters. Or is it a case of your neighbor hates you because you prosper? We have bigger economy than Ghana (our oil reserves faaaaaarrr outnumbers theirs) but shouldnt we rather be ashamed that a country as small as Ghana with small money can still do they do and Naija with all our billions is still a deep sleeping so called gaint?? 8 Likes |

emmbet: NOW THIS IS A WELL WRITTEN OPINION PIECE... OPINIONATED BUT STILL REALISTIC, SINCERE AND STAYS TRUE TO THE FACTS. Not what the skewed thread that was started to mock Ghana... again i say, Nigeria shd mind our own business oo and let our leaders use our billions for better things so we actually become the Nigeria we have to be, not the Nigeria we think we are... 2 Likes |

tomshare16: Not really what both Nigerians and Ghanaians forget is that Ghana by no means had the same hurdles to climb as Nigeria in height or number. What Nigeria is to summount is enormous when compared to what Ghana has ever had to. All resources monetary and otherwise is channelled to a population similar to Lagos that is not to belittle but to bring perspective. Coupled with tribes that differ religiously and in language and with no one overall dominant tribal population. Our population is another factor. We should have used our billions better but the truth is we needed to use it to grow as it would not have been enough for 170 million people. That's if we are talking about building a society and a nation for generations. Let's not also ignore the civil war and it's affects on us in terms of trust, citizenship and nation building. We have hurdles to climb and bridges to build. That being said I was still underwhelmed by Ghana when I went although I had a nice time precisely because they didn't have the above to contend with so I expected more I suppose. |

If you are judging Ghana by our low African standards, then Ghana is up there especially with Nigeria being a fool at 57. However if you are judging by world standard, then Ghana is trash. In fact, apart from SA, no other African country comes close to being developed even close to the poor eastern European countries not to talk the big western countries. People are hyping Ghana because Nigeria's very poor standards has made Ghana look good where as in the actual sense, both countries are trash. 1 Like |

Pls oooo so of they calling african countries out ghana will run and come out and wait for their counterpart like Zimbabwe. ....Nigeria is not ghana's mate if you want to compare any african country with nigeria I would only agree if it is south Africa and even at that I would argue that their civilization is as a result of the white (European )living there .......I have watched TV show where they ask SA celebrities which african they'ed love to visit most of them kept saying Nigeria. .. |
