President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated his stand that until all Chibok girls abducted from their school three years back were rescued alive and handed over to their parents, the war against insurgency cannot be said to have begun. The President spoke yesterday, through the Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mansur Dan Ali, at the grand finale of the 53rd Anniversary Celebration of Nigerian Air Force (NAF), held at the flight line of the NAF base in Makurdi, Benue State. He disclosed that his administration procured the newly acquired aircrafts to intensify the search for the girls with a view to rescuing them and reuniting them with their parents. Welcoming the visitors, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar commended the Buhari administration for supporting NAF in realising its goals and promised to put an end to the Boko Haram insurgency, stressing, “I have made professionalism the major policy trust of my administration.” Also, Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. The question is, how realistic is this? do the Chibok girls even still want to be rescued? What has been done for the rescued girls so far? Last I heard some of them were even victims of rape in their new custody. Cold truth is, they're gone. Possibly even victims of Stockholm syndrome as most of them would be married to their abductors by now. War against insurgency should be focused on being preventive now. Let's ensure there's zero tolerance for any such reoccurrence, not chasing ghosts and shadows. |

If you can mistakenly bomb a delineated safe zone occupied by IDPs, mistakenly nuke that forest and liberate us from the shackles of Boko Haram. No "set of blood" is precious than the others.. We can't continue losing hundreds daily for the lives of 200 girls whose condition we can't ascertain |
