4 Traffic Related Issues The Nigerian Government Needs To Investigate & Address by AutoJoshNG: 2:56pm On Apr 26, 2017 |
Nigerian road users have seen a lot ,experienced a lot .But recent spike in things that shouldn’t be happening is a cause for concern. And hopefully the government would investigate and produce a lasting solution if possible. Lets find out some of them. 1.Increase In Fire Incidences This may seem vague to some of you but take a close look, create a pattern .There have been so many Danfo,Tanker and private car fire incidences in the past 2 months, sure some of them are a result of over-speeding but not all.Is there a problem with the petroleum products being sold to Nigerians ?.Oh! maybe this is why the fuel in my generator doesn’t last any more . 2.Uber Palaver If you have been following us here on Autojosh you would have seen about 4-5 cases related to Uber in the last two months.Drivers and passengers have had a fair share of the issues that come with Uber, including robbery. What is the government doing about this ?.How effective has the new taxi law in Lagos been, which promised the safety of people that use Uber ?. 3.One Chance While this is not new in Nigeria ,it has seen a considerable increase from mid 2016 to April 2017.Some even use POS machines to rob their victims !.What measures are being put in place to avert this or catch the perpetrators in a worse case scenario . 4.Highway Robberies A close cousin to one chance and not also new in Nigeria ,but with recent occurrences in the last one month I had to add this .The government has to channel certain armed forces or make use of recent technology to avert this. What are your thoughts on this ? Have a thing or two to contribute ? Kindly comment , we would like to hear from you. The security agents stationed on the Highways are more interested in harassing commuters and collecting bribes, while the men of the underworld operate with full confidence. I always enjoy posts from both Autojosh and Autoreports, always offering something unique and away from the numerous yeyebrity and social media stories that litter our cyberspace. 9 Likes |

I am still surprised that a business concept like Uber can be brought to Nigeria with the incessant car robbery, kidnapping and GTA that happens without Uber in Nigeria would be a high risk venture especially for the Uber driver. 3 Likes |

All the security agents are interested in is your papers. The just hope its incomplete so the can harass you. They have lost objective for the primary reason why they are there. Can you imagine we have The police, FRSC, VIO, Customs, Lastma and so on all on the road, if only they will be effective on their jobs. |

No 1 imho is due to incompetent rewire mechanics (or diy gone wrong) The government can fix this via a deliberate program to train and retrain and certify automobile electrics technicians |

eezeribe: The pay of these officers are appalling to say the least. I've always said that the government should make the starting salary for police officers 150k/month. This way, 20naira hustling will reduce. Secondly, we need state police. I don't know how our country has been managing without one. Third, we need police call centre, people must be tired of calling DPO, I no even get DPO #, if I'm robbed I don't even know who to call. Infact, when u've got dumb asses in govt, what do we expect? 1 Like |

Overloading by commercial vehicle/tricycle drivers is also a serious issue that should be addressed. It is getting out of hand. How can drivers chunk two hefty adults in a single front seat and four at the back seat? It's really bad and instead of the police to stop this and punish them, they'll collect bribes as if it's their right! God help us! 1 Like |

There are too many cars in this country. Government should provide an efficient and large transport system that will transport people to there destination in no time. In this way, people will see little need for a personal car or if they have a car, they will see little need for taking it out all the time. |
