As a student of religion, I have wondered why there are so much discrepancies despite that most major religions emanated from the same source.

The Bible and Quran practically give similar directions as holy books. Differences seem more of changing views but the ideas are the same.

But then, the question all religions and denominations must answer is the question of the redemption of the soul.

That question was answered in the divine work of Jesus. He being God's acceptable atoning sacrifice for the salvation of the human soul. Coupled with the fact that all religions accept Him as being divine or God-sent.

So all religions are good and all denominations are good, since they all promote moral uprightness.

But the single most important factor that gives meaning to any religion is the appropriation of the atoning work of Jesus into ones life for the redemption of the soul which God requires. This is done by believing in its efficacy and confession that you accept it.

If your soul is not redeemed forget it, your religion is worthless.

Student of religion I mean is one that has interest in finding out things about different religious groups and their ideals.

Buddhism can be the most peaceful, no doubt. My point here is that the question of 'soul redemption' has to be answered. This is because all religions accept that mankind has a sinful state which must be redeemed.
