Let Us Put a Stop to Ethnic Bigotry.

Of late, I have come to notice the trend in which ethnic bigotry as gradually eaten deep into us, here on nairaland. At times, I begin to wonder if the way people hate online is the way they hate in real life.

While it is totally fine to air our opinions, it is very important that we try our best possible to do that without insulting others.

Sentiments (tribal sentiments inclusive) are a thing which cannot be separated from us humans. That notwithstanding, could be shown without public show of hate.

It is funny how we let the decisions of the elite class dictate how we treat our fellow Nigerians.
We seem to forget that "these elite class- the politicians and leaders -whose actions directly and indirectly, are the cause of our woes, know no tribe. We who are at the receiving end eventually play to their tunes and transfer that aggression on our fellow citizens. When we actually should hold them accountable.

A situation in which every single serious news posted for the purpose of information is ridiculed by carelessly tribalism isn't good enough.

It's good to joke, but a thing which started out as a joke has blown out of proportion.

We may not know this but, whether we think we are just joking around with these hateful tribal comments we make on nairaland, the outside world watches. They certainly do not understand our humor -they do not know when we joke and when we are serious- and will see us as a country full of hate among its citizens.

Hate would lead us nowhere. It will rather do more damage than has been done.

Let us say NO to hating on people because of their tribes.
It's high time we started holding individuals accountable for their actions, not their tribesmen.

Let us rise above hate.
God bless Nigeria.
Gracias.

From a concerned Nairalander.
