This is very important issue the administration decided to tackle. Maritime piracy spiked in 2016. Alot of kidnappings. I noticed the administration made a few steps to manage secruity and border situation. It's not alot of helicopters but we got to start somewhere. He disclosed that the government is working on the Single Window Project, a one-stop shop for cargo clearance, adding that it will reduce cargo clearance by almost fifty percent. This would be helpful clearing items in Nigeria seems to be a headache for these importers. Then on top the other port are reducing taxes. It's good they are trying to get act together on this front. It takes 20 days to clear a container in Nigeria, it takes only seven and three days in Togo and Benin Republic respectively. 20 days doing what. That's painfully long I see why the other ports have an east time taking business. 1 Like |
