MASSOB hails U.S. blacklisting of Nigeria

Even as Nigerians in their numbers are condemning the recent black-listing of the country by the United States as one of the 14 countries of interests, Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) yesterday hailed the development, insisting that Nigeria as a nation remains a terrorist state.




The group in a press statement signed by its Director of Information, Comrade Uchenna Madu, and made available to THISDAY in Enugu, said it was totally in support of the action of the United States, stressing that while terrorism may have different meaning in other countries, in Nigeria, it “has manifested itself in peculiar ways”.

According to MASSOB, “Currently, Nigeria as a state is a terror to Biafrans. We are being killed; our shops, investments and establishments are been looted, destroyed and set ablaze while our vehicles got vandalised in the Northern part of Nigeria.

“The mobile police unit of Nigeria Police Force scattered all over Biafra land kills at random and engaged in extra-judicial killings. The presence of ‘OPERATION MESSA’ Squad of the Nigerian Military that patrols in a war- like outfit in Biafraland is a terror to our people.”

The Movement further noted that Farouk Umar Abdul-Mutallab who was involved in the failed bomb attack was “only but one among thousands of conventional and international terrorists of Northern Nigeria origin who are directly or indirectly controlled, sponsored, supervised, supported and directed by some Islamic religious and traditional leaders, some political leaders and businessmen secretly with foreign Islamic countries (some already mentioned by USA as terrorists nations) backing them financially and materially.”
