To the politicians and those connected to government : a blessing but, to the average Nigerian out there it's more of a curse. |

It's a curse on Nigeria, but a blessing to Western Nations. Western Nations can even promote a ram to preside over any oil-producing Third World country so that oil can be lifted at a token per barrel. |

Natural resources all around africa has always proven to be more of a curse than being a blessing where ever there are found. I mean. Look at the Diamonds in serialonne, they are tagged #BloodDiamonds. Nigerians have grown lazy since the discovery of oil. nobody thinks any other form of productivity asides proceeds from sales of crude oil. Nigerians are not even decent enough to refine the crude they consume. they cant even explore the crude. they pay mobile to explore, their refineries are not working, they ship crude abroad only to import petrol and sometimes even experience scarcity in the midst of plenty, Beat that gbasky country. They still sit on fat cash and fold their legs for the next barrel waiting to be shipped out crude oil singled handedly stifled the cocoa reserves in the south west, the ground nut pyramids in the north central Kano region, crumbled industories and factories of production and disenfranchised plenty would be farmers. so I will pose the question to you! You just tell me if crude oil has been a blessing or a curse to Nigeria |

For a start, it is not Nigeria's oil. I wonder why one Mallam from Gwandu will just wake and start calling the oil their collective resources. |

sorry1:its biblical. God put that oil in the ground for his mighty men. just because you are born somewhere does not mean you own anything. this why bible say the POOR will always be amongst us. because some people are created to be poor. lol. its punishment. question is what are you doing to place yourself in the position of the mighty men ? are you being righteous ? do you seek knowledge wisdom and understanding ? or are you just a slay king with an iphone and a bottle of moet ? |

Bloody curse. Since 1956. Or what do you call something that has been mismanaged and hijacked by a measely 2% of a population of almost 200 million people? What do you call something that is at the root of the conflicts and agitations in the country since 1966? |

Edu3Again:@bolded You are totally wrong. North can be very successful country if they have REAL leaders to direct their country affairs. I mean determined leaders like lula da silva. I mean dedicated leaders like awolowo. North has more than what it takes to be one of the best country on earth. But presently they have bad "leaders" like other parts of the country. |

Well,it was not originally meant to be a course. It is a commomwealth for the generality of Nigerians. It is just like a double-edged sword that can serve as a master or as a slave. Crude oil, more accurately, our crude oil, paradoxically became what economists regard as RESOURCE CURSE because we did not manage it well. This mismanagement has sprouted from greed and lack of vision overtime. It has, sadly, put us in a comfort zone such the we blindly followed the smell of its fumes and abandoned other viable means that were the footholds of our economy. |

sorry1: It is a reasonable question. Where is the Niger Delta? This is the reason you all are not moving forward. What is normal in most countries is absolutely abnormal in Nigeria. And it's citizens have the nerve to blame it's leaders when their own thought process is flawed as hell. Smh. |
