It makes sense for smart farmers to specialize in growing tomatoes during those times of the year when tomatoes are likely to be scarce, using techniques such as irrigation and greenhouses that allow farmers to grow crops at any time of the year, regardless of the weather. 1 Like |

A very amateurish & unprofessional write up. First & foremost, the period for tomato & pepper glut is usually January to around April. This is so due to the fact that these vegetables flourish under the dry air, and controlled water of irrigation. Apart from leafy vegetables, most vegetables do not thrive under the excessive water and moisture of the rainy season. The wetness causes moulds, bacteria & other parasites to damage the crops. Good tomatoes can be profitably grown in greenhouses during the rainy season. To take advantage, plant in March. We pray we don't have outbreak of "Tomato Ebola this year... 3 Likes 1 Share |

Nigeria don't have regulations that's the main reason. Goods and services can rise over night above sea level. From 10percent to 200 percent, artificial inflation that is how our market is no control. And we see them as demand and supply this is faulty. Bad and lack of regulations is why and even if there is going to be a rise of commodities it should be appropriate and reasonable. |

This one of reason why southerners must wakeup face reality. We can of focusing on trade/education alone while jestison farming d basic i.e food. Pure lies. 1. Tomatoes are fruits, not veggies. 2. Tomatoes don't cultivate well during the rainy season. The heavy rain pulverizes their soft skin. Running water also easily snaps them off their weak vines. 3. Tomatoes are perennial by default, and grow in temperate climates. 4. Year-round tomatoes are grown in greenhouses. 5. Farmers use their fields to plant something else during the rains cos of the above. |
