My Dear Acting President,
Recently you gave a speech at the Biafra 50th anniversary, where you mentioned a Welsh quote that: “Experience is the best teacher for a fool, but history is a kind and gentler teacher”. Indeed a lesson is to be learnt from our recent past, the presidency of our amiable former president Goodluck E. Jonathan was accidental and had to be fought for its actualization. Fate betrothed power to a naïve and minority clan. President Goodluck Jonathan (GEJ) had the chance to rewrite our forced National Agreement. He had the chance to pacify all regions in a new collective agreement. He tried, but he failed, so many reasons have been postulated for this, but I will highlight two.

Naivety: The boko haram insurgency which began in 2010, coincidentally with the start of GEJ’s presidency, devastated the north for close to three (3) years before he declared a weakened ‘state of emergency’. Threats from the governors forum, various Northern elders and devilish advisers, prevented and hampered the president from exercising his constitutionally backed powers.

Greed: After a gentleman’s agreement of only seeking one term after the demise of President Yar’Adua as revealed by the book: ‘Against the run of Play’ by Segun Adeniyi. Sycophants and the devilish advisors prevailed on the president how mighty his shadow casts over the whole country. The possibility of a 2nd term, just like the failed 3rd term agenda was all but a fools dream. Had GEJ known this maybe he would have passed the National Confab Report instead of waiting till he returns from his unending trip to Otuoke.

My dear sir, maybe Fate is also a kind Lord. You have found yourself in this same position, lightning has struck twice at the same place (Aso Rock). This is déjà vu but with a different set of players. The Northerners have been twice beaten, they fume and rage, beating drums of a coup d’état. They promise that they will be the one to field a candidate come 2019, peradventure anything happens to president Muhammad Buhari, don’t take their threats lightly sir, but let it spur you to do everything in your power to set Nigeria right. Do not be naïve neither be greedy, I plead. You may not get another chance.

As a succour, you have the strength of your clan and the whole southern Nigeria in this bid to set this country’s arrangement right.
