Since it's release in 2008, Smartphones running Android have shown great improvement. The improvement is so great that it's very difficult for android smartphones created from 2008-2011 to run applications created in 2017 due to the immense update on the hardware of Smartphones running Android.

A big part of Google success with Android is hinged on the fact that Android is an open source OS open to lots of customization.
At the Google I/0 17 Google also made announcements on some software upgrades on Android including the existence of the new Android 8.0 OS.
In order to actually appreciate the improvement on Android smartphones, it is imperative to review some of it's history and that's exactly what his article is about.
We are going to do a quick scan on the features of the first Android smartphone ever released.

DESIGN
The HTC dream body was made of plastic. It had a size of 4.6 inch , 2.1 inch wide.
It had a screen size of 3.2 inches. It screen was a capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 320X480.
The HTC dream was a very thick and a comfortable phone to use then, it's build quality was really solid.
Instead of having the capacitive navbar keys most recent Android Smartphones feature now, it featured mechanical navbar keys.

Below its display was it's call button, home button, a trackball which aided in navigating on web pages, a return key, end call key and instead of a slide down toggle menu it had a mechanical menu key.
Even with the fact that the HTC dream was the first release of Android, it's I/0 was still questioned and regauarded as poor at that time, it had no headphone jack yes! You read it! It's not a typo. The no headphone jack game did not begin today even the first Android phone the HTC dream did not feature an headphone jack.

On the left of this device there was a volume controller button, Micro SD slot.
On the right there was a camera button to launch and take pictures with the camera, but you could also take pictures with the trackball nav button.
On the bottom housed a mini USB which was used to charge this device and you could also connect your headphone adapter to it. In summary you won't be able to charge and play music with your headphones with the HTC dream.

The HTC dream didn't feature a capacitive keyboard on its display, so sliding the phone sideways to the right revealed a mechanical querty keyboard.
Which was made of tiny keys that felt a little bit difficult to operate considering the finger size of most adults.

To crown it all the HTC dream weighed 158g.
The design features already stated shows great disparity in what most phones feature in their design today. It even had a screen size of 3.2inch mean while the lowest screen size on any phone considered an Android smartphone is 5.0 inches. To you reading this post this specs may sound incredibly low but as at then this design made the smartphone top notch.

HARDWARE
If the HTC dream was released again with the specs it had upon it's release. April first would be a perfect date for it's released because it would be considered as an obvious joke.
The HTC dream features a 528 Mhz snapdragon processor , 192MB ram, learn more..

I got this phone from eBay last year Dec out of curiosity ($28).

I have currently rooted it and have even flashed a custom recovery...I am thinking of compiling Android 3.2 for this phone. Its indeed a great phone with the traditional keyboard I luv.
