Weed addiction can be harmful to not only your health but also your life, and can lead to all sorts of problems that interfere with your job, your social life and your personal relationships. Knowing how to stop smoking weed is your first real step in quitting, so I applaud you.
The chances are you probably have a weed addiction if you frequently smoke alone or get anxious when your supply starts to dwindle. Maybe you even choose to spend most of your time with people who also smoke weed in order to feel more socially accepted.
Weed addiction can eventually take over your life, and replace your friends, hobbies and social activities. In order to get over a weed addiction, you first have to be honest with yourself and confront the problem head-on – this can often start by facing some harsh truths.

Step I – Admit you need help!
Honestly admit that weed is taking over your life in unhealthy ways & that you have to take back some power. There are ways that are tried, and trusted so you can try to help stop or quit smoking weed (marijuana) naturally. But none of them are easy, but if you put in the work, you can successfully kick your habit.
In end, it’s not how to stop smoking weed but what you’re prepared to do to quit smoking weed.
Now, when we say gradually, we don’t mean a couple of years. You should give yourself around a month to be completely marijuana free, so set a date in your calendar for around a month from now. Don’t make this date a flexible maybe, you need to pick a date and stick to it. Saying that, if you think a month is not enough to realistically quit, you shouldn’t set yourself up for failure. Take two to three months if you think this is going to be especially tough.

Step II - Be Organized
In order to make this process work, you need to plan out very carefully how much weed you’re going to use each day in order to slowly wean yourself off it completely.
Think about it logically; by the halfway point, you should be using half as much weed as you’re smoking now.
Portion control your weed, and set these portions out ahead of time if possible so that you won’t be tempted to use more.

Step III - Keep busy
This is the time to start claiming your social life back. See friends, family and engage in social activities you’ve been missing out on. Take time to indulge in hobbies, read books and watch movies; in essence, do things that will take your mind off smoking weed.
Try and keep in perspective the reason why you are doing this, and think about all the things you’ll be able to do/enjoy when you’ve quit forever. If all else fails, think back to the day you thought how to stop smoking weed and how you searched the internet for the answer. And how you read this article.

Step IV - Throw everything out
First thing’s first; flush whatever weed you have down the toilet so that you can’t get to it later. Just make sure it’s impossible to get hold of that weed again, so essentially destroy it.
Also, you won’t be able to smoke if you don’t have your lighter, matches, bong, container, and roach clips, so throw them out.
Think about any triggers you have that may make you think about smoking weed, and either get rid of or give it to someone for safe keeping. Delete your dealer from your contacts, social media, and your life.

Step V – SPEAK TO FRIENDS
You’re going to need support, so tell the people you trust the most. Most of them will want the best for you, even fellow smokers who may be thinking about quitting themselves.

Step VI - Experiencing weed withdrawal symptoms
Notoriously the worst part about quitting weed cold turkey are it’s side effects. You’re going to experience anxiety, insomnia, decreased appetite, irritability and an increase in body temperature.
You’ll have mood swings and times where you’ll just want to give up. The good news is, it’s only temporary. Try to hold onto the reasons why you’re doing this.
Make a list of reasons and paste it on your fridge or where you keep your wallet to server as a reminder.

Step VII - Make Recovery Easy
There are things you can do in order to help your recovery, such as changing your routine, finding other activities to take part in, seeing friends and avoiding any triggers that may awaken your urges. You can do it.

Step VIII – Seek help
If you can’t manage to stop or quit weed on your own naturally, your best and fail-proof option is to seek professional help:
A doctor or psychiatrist will be able to prescribe you medications that can help you to stop taking marijuana. Although this doesn’t help for the long term.
A therapist or group counselling sessions can help you find support by talking through your issues and meeting like-minded people. This helps in small portions but still requires you to constantly bring yourself to commit.
Your final option is in-patient rehab, some of which can be covered by your insurance company. This kind of help is the smartest move. It’s a 24 hour treatment for you where you’re surrounded by doctors and therapists working round the clock to help you put this behind you. You will no longer look to find answers on how to stop smoking weed because you will be living it.
