Uber Loses $708 Million In The First Quarter Of 2017 by AutoJoshNG: 3:17pm On Jun 02, 2017
Just last week, The Wall Street Journal reported that Uber did not make profit in the first quarter of 2017. Confirming this, Uber has announced that they actually made a loss of a whooping $708million in the first 3 months of the year despite posting revenue of $3.4 billion.

The company’s spokesperson said, “these results demonstrate that our business remains healthy and resilient as we focus on improving our culture, management and relationship with drivers and Uber is on a good trajectory towards profitability”. Uber also said it’s looking for a chief financial officer who has worked at a public company or has experience in taking a company public.

i think they caused it for themselves after that controversy at the airport in the states and then the uber drivers protest in nigeria.

The guy above me... it's evident you're sitting on a mast. When I opened this thread to comment, it was just me, only for me to type "yy" and saw someone else on ftc.

About the post... they'd make profit in the long run

Okay but that's much. Or is it because of the entry of other online cab services into the market

So their costs outweighed all the revenues made... what exactly are they spending money on?

Pardon my ignorance, how does the loss demonstrate the company is "healthy and resilient"? Is it that previous quarterly postings has recorded heavier losses than this?

Chaiiiiii cry cry My 100 dollars is part of that loss.

Their system got compromised, someone had access to my credit card and used my card for Uber service from Russia. They had to refund me sharp sharp plus compensation after investigating. Cos they knew it was their fault.

Advise: Dont save your card information on Uber mobile application or even any mobile App.

PS: I must commend their customer service. It's excellent!

The mindset of their investors still remain resolute despite the losses and in fact it is still better than last year.

It always takes time before the profits starts rolling in, the potentials are there. Uber is practically a word in everyday conversations across the globe now tells you their impact.

And what's the problem with that? It's a valuable piece of information to some. Life should not be all about criticism.
