Yes, that Piers Morgan...

Despite what you may have read in the press or watched on CNN, Donald Trump's spat with London Mayor Sadiq Khan didn't begin with a tweet after last week's terror attack. That didn't help, but the whole thing really started over a year ago - when Khan was running around telling everyone that Trump was ignorant, and that he hoped Trump would lose the election. This all stemmed from Trump's proposed travel ban, as USA Today wrote last May:

On Monday, Trump appeared on Good Morning Britain where he talked about criticism he’s received from Sadiq Khan, who was recently elected London’s first Muslim mayor and has frequently criticized Trump.

"He's been quite critical of you as you know. He's attacked you for being ignorant," Piers Morgan said to Trump.

"Let's do an IQ test," Trump interrupted, before saying that he was offended by what Khan had said (including his hope that Trump loses the election) and he wouldn’t forget.

So, however ill-advised the President's post-attack tweets were (and I'd argue that was one of those moments where he should have kept quiet) they were not the impetus for Khan's animosity.

Lo and behold, our old friend Piers Morgan has once again noticed this uncomfortable fact. He spoke with Sadiq Khan yesterday on "Good Morning Britain" and positively grilled the London Mayor over his hypocrisy regarding both his spat with Trump and his recent decision to host ambassadors from 11 countries that currently ban Israeli travelers.

Whoa.

Piers is actually making a darn good point! That's newsworthy in and of itself.

The fact is, Sadiq Khan is a man who famously said that living with terror attacks is 'part and parcel of living in a big city.' He's telling the world that, if you live in a major metropolis, you're just going to have to tolerate the fact that a terrorist might kill you or someone you love, because that's just the way it is. It's clear that he's chosen a warped sense of political correctness over difficult decisions and real solutions.

The rest of us, who are unwilling to live in a world where we're supposed to suck it up every time someone blows up a children's concert, be damned.

Khan can carp all he likes about Trump's nasty tweets, but at the end of the day he'll still be presiding over a city with an obvious terrorism problem. No matter how much he'd like to focus on U.S. immigration issues, he can't "appease-away" the 20,000 jihadi suspects he admits live in his country.

It might not be his place to say it, but d truth remains, terrorism has come to stay! Esp, in big cities. Ask Trump himself.
