Awada Community Cries Out Over High Electricity Bills By EDDC (see Photos) by thekokofacts: 5:23pm On Jun 08, 2017
The people living in Awada Onitsha, in the early hours of today took to protest against the high electricity bills usually brought to them by EDDC. They took the protest into the premise of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), Onitsha; a state television station in the area.
According to one of the Protestants, when he was interviewed by a staff of ABS, he said,

“EDDC does not bring electricity to us but they bring exorbitant Electricity bills. We can’t afford to be paying such bills anymore. The electricity bill for a flat in Awada is between N17,000 to N54,000 per month in spite the poor electric power supply. They should provide for us ‘Prepaid Meter’ or no more payment”

Another person laments that the electricity bills are more than their house rents which according to him, “House rent for a flat here in Awada is between N15,000 to N25,000/ month”. He therefore calls on the government to come to their rescue.
