The world is now a global village and whatever product you produce locally should compare and compete with foreign made ones in cost and quality.

What they should be concerned about is how to make thier rice cheaper and better than imported ones.
Imagine if they produce the same quality of rice like imported ones and it's available and cheaper, who would be stupid to import and run a loss?
Cost and availability remain the key to ending importation naturally. It is the same reason America still import most goods from China.

Don't tribalize everything, Ebonyi also have rice, likewise other states. You don't just wake up and stop importation when the nation cannot produce half of what it needs.

This did not happen today if the past leaders had done a quarter of what has been done in the last 6years about rice there would be no problem about rice. Every policy is not without its teething stages. It would be a grave mistake if government starts importation of rice now.
well, 99% of Nigerians don't know that. They believe a country can be destroyed over a fifty year period and be fixed in one day.

they are right, untill Nigeria stop importation of things we can produce, our GDP would not grow. We can produce Rice in Nigeria, it should not be imported. It will enrich the farmers, the prices of their produce would go up. Farmers are enjoying this administration.

Early this morning, Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria, Bauchi State chapter took a march to government house seeking the stoppage of rice importation. Gov M.A. Abubakar stopped his convoy to listen to the farmers and he received them personally.

If rice importation commences
price of all food commodities will
come down by force.

Govt has begged farmers & traders
to reduce food prices & they have stubbornly
refused, this is how to deal with them. sad

What has price of dollar have to do with
increase in Palm oil, whose tree was planted
since Shagari & Babangida régime?

Why is garri more expensive than cornflakes &
palm at one time more expensive than olive oil?

High cost of food is not progress,
it shows inefficient agricultural systems.
