Once a certificate of recall is issued by INEC, the Senator ceases to exist as a Senator. The action of the Senate President is a mere formality. I'm sure the aim of this move is to make Dino sit up. Mek we dey look.

They cant even get past step 1. Don't forget the number who voted are always less than the registered voters. Voter turnout in the presidential elections was about 40%, if that pattern was repeated in Kogi then it means even if ALL the people who voted in his senatorial district sign the petition (including those who voted for him) you still wouldn't have the 50% of Registered voters to get past step 1. If you couldn't get the people who registered to come out to vote, how will you get them to sign a petition that many don't even understand? Sadly the slowpoke is here to stay.


It is practically impossible to recalll a senator, these things are written to give the illusion of democracy. The constitution is written to safeguard the political class, not for the common man. This is what happens when the country is having a constitutional conference and the electorate do not pay attention to what they are doing. it is easier to impeach a governor than a senator, if parliamentarians decide they dont want a governor or a president, they can remove him but you cannot remove a parliamentarian even though the constitution says you can.

We can simply this process if INEC can adopt power of automation. The verifications of voters can be done online. The signature can be done electronically. INEC should provide platform for it or commission me to design it for then at a modest price. My contribution to national dev.

who structured the procedure like this. verifying signature is a very subjective procedure ,it should be thumb printing instead.
Cos am sure many people can't sign a consistent signature in 3months not to talk of the one they signed during voters registration

Can you recall someone your votes didn't put in? The fact is none of the elected leaders including the president think they're accountable to the citizens because your votes didn't put them in power. Your votes don't count! Good luck trying to recall a representative of your state. I would have said vote wisely in the next election but that would be contradictory.
