QUESTION OF THE DAY!
If you get the answer right, then you aren't olodo cheesy cheesy
some people will run away at the sight of this question.

A lady bought goods worth ₦200 and paid the shopkeeper with a ₦1000 Note. The Shopkeeper had no change on him so he went to another Shopkeeper John his neighbour and collected ₦1000 change in ₦200 denominations, with which he settled the lady
and she left.

A little while later, John came back angrily after he discovered the ₦1000 note he was given by
the shopkeeper was fake, and demanded a replacement.
To avoid trouble, the shopkeeper had to give John another ₦1000 and destroyed the counterfeit which had no real value.

So Question for the genius...
How much has the Shopkeeper lost in total?

I think he paid for the good bought in the real sense, he only made change, gave the buyer 800 and kept 200 as the payment

In a very simple form; if the 1k note were not fake, would he had incurred any loss? No.

So what did he do? He simply exchanged his 1k for the fake one and tore it up and that is the only lose incurred.

You are right that there will be no loss of the note is not fake. Lets assume its fake and did not borrow any money from john,he will have the loss of 1k(I.e #200 worth good+#800 change to the customer). Did you get that?

Don't get too worked up bro, ur ignorance has just been thrown to the surface.

Really? You must have just taken possession of one chinko pack of rusty and worn electronic components in the name of laptop, the more reason you keep ranting everywhere thinking everyone is new to the tool.

However, I will advise you bookmark this thread and always get yourself posted on how your "working" brain really worked.

Bro, the only amount lost here is the 1k which the buyer took away and the loss is borne by the shop owner.

If his loss is 1k because he did not borrow, how should borrowing increase it?

He simply went and got the 1k split into lower denominations, gave the buyer N800 and kept his N200.

Now let's assume the shop owner has goods worth 5k and cash of 2k (in 1k bills) making a total of 7k.

A buyer bought goods worth N200 and brought out 1k but the shop owner didn't have lower denominations and got it split by Mr John. The shop owner settled the buyer with a balance of 800 and kept his 200.

How much is his worth now?

N4800 goods + N2200 cash = 7k, no difference.

Mr John now came with the complaint that the 1k is fake and the shop owner simply brought out 1k out of his 2200 and gave Mr John then tore up the fake 1k.

Now, how much is the worth of the shop owner business?

N4800 goods + N1200 cash= 6k.

7k before transaction, 6k after, what is the loss?

Olodo will you keep quiet. With your laptop and working brain you can't solve this simple arithmetic. The 800 he gave the buyer is it from his pocket? Is it not from the change of the fake 1000? You are talking about 200 naira goods he gave the buyer, where did you keep the 200 he pocketed? Olodo just plenty for nairaland.

Exactly bro.

That is another explanation to the simple arithmetic, not even math.

How should the 800 balance he gave to the buyer which was not from his pocket be added to his loss? As clearly narrated, he got the fake 1k split into lower denominations and gave the buyer 800 then pocketed 200.

How can you also add the goods of N200 given to the buyer as loss when the buyer had pocketed his N200?

Dude just getting excited over a newly acquired rusty box of electronic components he prefers to call a laptop.

As you have rightly said, just imagine what a combination of "working" brain and a laptop can come up with.

Don't get worked up. The man lost 2k in total. 1. Fake 1k 200N + 800 C. 1k he gives to the other man.

He exchanged the fake 1k for the 200+800 then gave the buyer 800 and pocketed 200 (Not from his pocket)

Note, he had not taken anything from his pocket but has already put 200 there in exchange for his goods

The only time he had to deep hand in his pocket was when the 1k was discovered to be fake and that 1k he exchanged for the fake 1k is the only loss he suffered.

If he lost 2k, who gained the other 1k?

Oboy nawao, just primary school arithmetic?

This is the only reasonable explanation, all these other ones up there are craps.
The loss is just 1k, which is as a result of fake 1k discovered later.
