Nigeria, like a big elephant is a case of what you see depending on what side you choose to sit. While the Igbos sees may 30th as a day of injustice to them, the Arewas sees January 15th as there own day of injustice. While the Yorubas sees june12 as a great injustice to them, you could even make a case of November 10th for the ogonis and November 20th for the Ijaws. In all these scenarios, one thing is clear. We all see things through our tribal eyes not the Nigerian eyes or else why should only the Igbos see may30th as a cruel day when infact all Nigerians should rise up and mark the day as a day of grave mistake not only to the Igbos but for Nigeria as a whole if not for anything at least for the sake of preventing such incident from ever happening again.

January 15th on the other hand is quiet significant not just because most of the murder victims where Huasa-Funalis but because this was the first time that the military will interfere in politics in Nigeria which sadly set the precedent of corruption and skewed federal system we have till date. So why should we as a nation not see this day as a symbolic day so that we can learn from our mistakes sadly every other tribes but the Arewas have chosen not to even remember it.

The most appalling of all our hypocritical ways as a nation is the way and manner in which Nigerians of other ethnic groups have left the remembrance of this day to the Yorubas simply because MKO was a Yoruba man. What a shame no other tribe sees this day for what it really is,June 12 no doubt represents our greatest electoral failure as a nation, this was the first and only free and fair election devoid of any tribal or religious sentiments in Nigeria till date. On this day Nigerians from all walks of life unanimously voted for MKO. So where did we get it wrong I mean where June 12 become a symbolic day for only the Yorubas?when we all should have seen this day as a day that should never repeat it self in our nation again.

From the way I see it we are all victims of each others past misdeeds in other words we are all sinners than sinned against let us all see injustice as injustice irrespective of who's suffering it, like a Yoruba proverb which says when a child falls he looks ahead but when an elder falls he looks behind because he knows that what caused his downfall is not ahead but BEHIND. Happy June 12 to all Nigerians I hope we all can reflect on our past mistake and learn from them. GOD BLESS NIGERIA
