The safest city in SA is Port Elizabeth, and it has one of the most friendliest people on earth.

In which field?

But Port Elizabeth/East London is known for the motor industry(The biggest car manufacturers in Africa) other than those cities are a bit like Cape Town when it comes to salaries and lifestyle etc.
Try the internet, I'm sure you could find lots of job vacancies but if you state in what field it is I could probably help.(especially related to construction, I will give you advice)

Hmmm, interesting. You find that South Africa has the biggest mining industry in the world, mining engineers and Geologists from UK and Ireland work in close relations with South Africa some of them has even down here. I'm an Architect living in Jo'burg and I've worked on projects for Angloplatinum, Holcium HC, BHP Billiton which are one of the biggest mining companies in the world. There are two cities that I recommend you do research on which are Rustenburg and Klerksdorp. They have the biggest platinum deposits and the fastest developing cities in South Africa, its growing so fast that I might even move to those cities. There is a major skills shortage for fields such as Geology and Mining related professions and the salary is excellent.

But I strictly recommend you to do some research before you move to any place in the world, especially in this current economic climate. I know some friends of mine that moved to Europe who are now struggling to find some job vacancies and there are a lot of people in different professions in Europe without jobs. Its so bad that I heard of a guy that used to work at a management position who is now selling ice cream to survive.
What ever you decide to do, do your research first.

Re: Relocating To South Africa by RSA(m): 11:52am On Jan 25, 2010
I think he should try the mines in Rustenburg(my birth town cheesy cool),70% of the world platinium come from this town.So try this sites

www.implats.co.za

www.angloplatinum.com

This town is one of the safest and the fastest growing town in SA,soon it will be a city.I mean it could be a capital in other  neighbouring countries. And it is close to Sun City,Africas Las Vegas. And also it will host 2010 World cup this June.

undecided Unfortunately I'm not much of a traveler, so in honest truth I don't know of any. But I recommend you to visit South Africa's department of home affairs website or seek advice at your local home affairs department in Nigeria.

The easiest city to start off in SA is Cape Town. You'll find there is a lot of Europeans around there but if you are interested making some pocket money, I recommend you work at some hotel or tourist lodge, you could earn up to 200$ per day just on tips. Then if you looking for a job related to your field, I recommend you look for some in-service training at the above mentioned companies, you could earn between 2000$ and 1000$ per month(which is quite good for a student), which is helpful if you are planning to further your studies.
But with regards to travel documentation, I suggest you seek advice at government institutions of both countries via websites etc

For interest sake:

The company that I'm working for had proposed on building a new Power Station in Calabar(I fully designed), but we lost the bid to some chinese consortium because they had a cheaper price. That was my first interaction with Nigerians, if we had won the project I could have came over and visit Nigeria. Nigeria is a very beautiful country with warm and open minded business people with lots of potential, I hope to start something in Nigeria in the near future.

Maybe Yoruba could give you more info and some links.

Yes, teachers are in demand. Why there is a shortage of teachers, in the 90's there used to be what we called teaching collages. Then we produced a lot of teachers in such a way that some of these guys struggle to find teaching jobs. Then the government decided to do away with the Teaching collage, they were shut down. Only if you wanted to do teaching you could do it in the University. We spent almost 10 years without producing any teachers, now it is backfiring, there are no teachers. We depend mostly from Zimbabwean, DRC, Kenya, Zambian teachers. If you have an experience in teaching, more specially Maths and Science, you will get a VISA tomorrow i am telling you.
Re: Relocating To South Africa by 14(m): 2:48am On Jan 26, 2010
The problem that i have is that most people who come to South Africa from other African Countries use SA as a gate way to Europe. South Africa has had a good relation with some European Countries hence VISA relaxation with those countries. To simplify it Most European countries trusted South Africa. But its no longer the case since this countries have realise that most people who are coming from South Africa are not particularly South Africans themselves. That is why now you see a country like Britain requiring VISA from South Africans. Its now difficult for South Africans to travel to Britain than before. If you come here thinking that it will be much easier to go to Europe, forget it. Its not gonna work, you will only go to those small countries where you will be treated like animal.

I can't imaging myself living outside of South Africa for 2 years. I like it here. A lot of South Africans who go overseas to work or study, they dont last long. They come back immidiately because they realise that there is no place like home.

You guys seem to be having no problem with it. I had this guy from Nigeria that i used to study with at University of Pretoria. This guy since he came, he had never gone home for that duration, for 4 years. I asked him " Dont you miss your parents and family as a whole. The excuse that he gave was it was expensive to go home. Yes i understand its expensive but you can't spend 4 years without visiting once. Then i realise afterwards that the guy was just hastling to survive. He came here with little money, he never had any money to return home. At the end he could not pay his fees. Then he stopped studying due to finances. I would meet the guy in Sunnyside Pretoria wondering around. You could see that things were tough, and i could not even help becase i also had nothing, was just a student. After a year he dissapeared, i guessed he saved some money then bought himself a ticket back home.

What i am trying to show you my man is that, dont take chances. Don't come with a single ticket. Save some money for incase things don't go according to your plan then you would be able to buy yourself a ticket back home. We don't want to see you selling druggs or begging on the street when you are left with nothing. And beware of the ladies, they are beautiful and they will milk you, you will be left with nothing.

I wish so too, but that was a long time ago(2004 I think). I'm very interested in creating business relations in west Africa and seemingly I met a lot of business minded Nigerians who gave me a positive impression of there country and its potential. I guess an opportunity like that is quite difficult to get especially in this current economic climate but then again Southern Africa is quite busy, Angola is developing fast, Botswana has a huge tourism potential which we looking to explore and there is South Africa with the world cup. At the moment Nigeria and west Africa remains a long term goal and so is Kenya and east Africa, all I can say is such things take time and patience but hopefully it could become a reality.

1,2 you've hit it in the nail,I remember those Teaching Colleges in most of the township.I grew up in Tlhabane,Rustenburg and we had a Nursing,Teaching and Police College in our township. It was cool back then cause our house was close to the Police College and every morning when we go to school they'll be doing their routine jogging/running in their tracksuits and we will run with them. cool.We even had clothing factories, where our mothers and aunts used to work, and now they're all closed.

Yes, We had roughly 3 Teaching colleges in my area. All my uncles are teachers, they all studied from those Teaching Colleges. In those days when you go those colleges you had an asurance that you are gurenteed a job when you finish. But later on there were just too many teahcers. Then they were shut down, now there are no teachers.

RSA, i am based in Pretoria for the past 12 years, but i have worked in Secunda, Joburg and now i am working in Centurion Pretoria. I originally come from Limpopo in Thohoyandou, but i was born in Saulsville near Atteridgeville in Pretoria. I only went to Limpopo to do my Grade 1 to 12. When i was done came back to Pretoria. My family is based in Thohoyandou and Pretoria. there is a story that would like to share with you, When i left for Thohoyandou in 1986 to go to start with my primary schooling, i had never been there before, then i did not know the Lingo. I spent like 3 years learning the laungage. My friends used to lough at me, even today they still lough at me making jokes how i would say something incorrectly. They even gave me a name which i wont share with you, that name came about after i say something incorrectly. Before i went back home i was fluent in Setswana and Sepedi 100%. When i came back after 12 years later, i knew nothing. i had forgotten every thing, had to learn from  scrach.

Any ways home is Highveld Ceturion, Pretoria.
