[b]POWER OVER[\b]

Power Over is to have control over somebody or a situation in a negative way, usually associated with repression, force, corruption, discrimination and abuse. This kind of power means taking it from somebody else, and then using it to dominate them, and prevent others from taking it back. A valid example can be seen when bad politicians who have been elected into office, abuse the power vested on them to steal public resources.

[b]Power Within[\b]
This kind of power is related to a person’s feeling of self-worth and self-knowledge. It’s that feeling of being able to imagine a better life for yourself, to have hope and the sense that you can change the world and deserve to live fairly. People without ‘Power Within’ often find themselves dominated by people with ‘Power Over.' A good example is when an individual believes that 'they can fly'. They believe that they can become anything they want to be whether it is a pilot or a president of a country.

[b]Power To[\b]
This kind of power is about having the ability to shape and influence one’s own life. It refers to having the ideas, knowledge, skills, money and confidence to convince yourself and others to do something. This can be seen in the occupation of an individual where they believe that they can execute the duties of their jobs because of the knowledge within them. e.g a judge presiding over a case or a doctor attending to his patients. When lots of people with this kind of power come together, they create ‘Power With’.

[b]Power With[\b]
Power With is to have power as a collective strength. When we find a common ground among different interests and build a common goal to benefit all those in the group, that is
power with! This power makes individual talents and knowledge even more impactful, and is based on support, solidarity and collaboration. A good example of this is DEMOCRACY- power for the people by the people!
