the bible says sarah called her husband Lord (I Peter 3:6) "Even as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, " and i think in Africa it isn't proper for a decent housewife to call her husband by name - whatdo you think? |

Really? Is there some place in the bible that says Man is God? Pathetic attempt to denigrate women as usual with Nigerian culture. 1 Like |

It seems to me that you have misogynistic traits. Women are human beings just like Men so please stop trying to exalt men over women. 1 Like |

meaningless thread |
Re: Is It Okay For A Woman To Call Her Husband By Name? by baslone: 4:34pm On Jan 23, 2010 |
I don't think it's meaningless! I also don't see a big deal about the lady calling her hubby by his name. Some women simply refer to them as daddy, some Daddy "their kid" while some only call their names whenever they are pissed at something. It's also uncommon to call the head of the family by his name in a polygamous family. All that matters is RESPECT and name calling doesn't really bring that! |

OP- if you dont want your wife calling you by name then that's good for you. However, not everyone has to be like you. This is a Nigerian issue and even then not all men would be comfortable with their wife ululating for them every single time she opens her mouth. dont get me wrong however- I'm not saying a wife shouldnt respect her husband, before una run and misquote me somewhere. |

He wants to be worshiped by the wife, silly thread. Just so outrageous to me that someone actually thinks this way in this day and age. Maybe he is just trying to get a rise out of women on NL. |
Re: Is It Okay For A Woman To Call Her Husband By Name? by justwise(m): 5:26pm On Jan 23, 2010 |
Abekeade08: Don't be suprised, some Nigerian men or African men are still living in the past, to some of them women can only be seen not heard. |

Depends on his age if he's a lot older perhaps call him by his childrens name. If no children a nickname is cool. |
Re: Is It Okay For A Woman To Call Her Husband By Name? by Nobody: 7:31pm On Jan 23, 2010 |
yes, nicknames are fine unless the OP has a problem with that too. However, different strokes for different folks. Some women wouldnt be comfortable calling their husbands by name either. I have seen ladies who dont give their spouses or partners anything less than absolute submission. |

it's not wise for people to try killing off threads just because they don't fancy the topic - if an issue has been raised before i provide the link and even then nothing stops an issue being discussed again for the benefit of new members |
