I don't know why Igbos are mocked for their claims of being Jewish while the Hausa/Fulani owe no apologies for their Arabic heritage.

Early British colonialist wrote of Nigeria as a "clash between the Arab and the Negro".

Your average Hausa Fulani doesn't consider himself as a Negro but an Arab and they have the Arabic customs and traditions in place to back their claims.

As for the Igbos and their claims to Judaism, much of the veracity on their links to Israel have been dependent on linguistic and cultural similarities with that of ancient Jewish customs. These claims have been collaborated both in the past and present by human anthropologists and historians. The Igbo claims to Jewry was so compelling that an international Jewish organisation came down to Nigeria to conduct genetic verification among a sample of Igbos.

I sometimes then wonder why the Igbo claim to Jewry will be dismissed by some but that of the Hausa/fulani copycat culture and adopted Arab heritage is revered by these same doubting Thomases.

If the Ijebus of the SW can boldly contradict the Oduduwa creation story which puts Ife as the origins of the Yoruba race by claiming Yemen and Sheba as their ancestral land and matriarch respectively why is the Igbo claim to Jewry often dismissed as a scam?

One point we should all consider, is that apart from the Yorubas - who claim to have sprung from the ground in Ife - every other tribe in present day Nigerian puts their ancestry outside Nigeria.

A latest scientific finding has displaced Africa as the birth place of modern man in preference to Europe and if we consider that apart from the Congo group (Efik, Ibibio, Tivi, Idoma ) who claim to have migrated from the Congo into Nigeria, virtually every other people have in their mythology to have migrated down south from higher latitudes (Sudan, ancient Egypt, Chad and Yemen).

So why is Igbo Jewry any different and why the ridicule?

Because there's fear of superiority complex developing among the igbo's and inferiority complex amongst other tribes.

Igbo Jewry claims are a people's search towards their ancestry and in no way does it impede on other tribes people in Nigeria.

Rather it is the majority of Yorubas and Awusa who feel disturbed in sharing a nation with a people who claim to be descendants of the most vilified race of people in Islamic history.

The hatred shown towards Igbo claims to Jewry has its root anchored on sectarian sentiments as the majority of Nigerians who ridicule and dismiss Igbo claims to Jewry are mainly moslems.

Every single tribe in Nigeria with exception to the self inferior tribes like Itsekiris (who consider themselves subordinates of Odua) and Ebiras (who have sworn subservience to Sokoto) have a superior mindset.

This is normal in a highly dense multicultural entity where some tribes want to be domineering like the Fulani and others like the Ijaws (who don't want to be dominated) .

Anti Igbo Jewry has its roots in Islam as Muslims have been ordered by their Prophet to kill and oppress the Jews.

The opposition to Igbo Jewry is probably at the core of the Northern Youth declaration to expel Igbos. It is bad enough that they are yet to fully Islamanize even their backyard talk more of the entire Nigeria and then here comes Igbo Jews in their midst.

It is rooted in the diabolical pseudo fascist movement called Islam.

Anti-Igbo sentiments began when the British (in preventing Igbo expatriates in Northern Nigeria from freely mixing with northerners) began spreading claims of Igbo links to Jewry.

Prior to Igbo links to Judaism, Northern Muslims couldn't be bothered about the Igbo kafirs in their midst as long as they were confined to the ghettos of Sabon-garin.

The likes of Ahmadu Bello, the sarduna of Sokoto became a staunch anti-Igbo after the British made the links of Igbos and Jews freely available to the northern ummah.

If the same Awusa/Fulanis can kill their own over sectarian divisions in Islam on the behest of Saudi Arabia, is it the newly categorised Jews of Africa that they will have second thoughts over?

I am drawing parallels with Igbo Jewry to revamped and growing anti-Igbo sentiments and how Islam is at the core of this new wave of hate.
