teddyope31: I will give you the breakdown for Maize. Per Hectare Land clearing 60,000 Naira Mulching. 50,000 Naira Ploughing. 15,000 Naira Harrowing. 15,000 Naira Planting. 5,000 Naira Seeds. 66,000 Naira (Pioneer) Herbicides. 50,000 Naira Herbicide application 5,000 Naira x 2 Insecticide 75,000 Naira Insecticide application 5,000 Naira x 3 Fertilizer 80,000 Naira Fertilizer application 5,000 Naira x 2 Fungicides 50,000 Naira Fungicide application 5000 Naira x 2 Field Scouting 2,500 Naira x 4 Total Cost 521,000 Naira Note that in year two, cost of clearing and mulching will be zero. Expected yield 8-12 tons per hectare. Price of Maize per ton = 120,000 Projected Revenue. = 960,000 - 1,440,000 Naira. Minimum cultivation = 100 hectares Note that the yield is not guaranteed , but with best agronomical practice and the grace of the good Lord, it is certainly possible. You can only get such yield with a Pioneer seeds and not any Oba Super million! in the market. The breakdown is only useful if you want to put in your money without owning any equipments. Alternatively, if you are only investing the land, then the cost to us will be different and we are going to have a minimum of 10 years agreement, bring our own equipments to station on the farm permanently and build a farm house and silos. The cost implications for this model is far more than just the operational expenses listed above. |

teddyope31: Hi Poster! I really love this motivation to invest in agriculture i commend your courage, However i have a good agricultural investment suggestion and if you feel its cool for you to do you can contact me on my whatsapp, then we discuss business and also my expertise. Mind u this is a long term investment and other users can benefit from it too Have you imagine how Oranges, Cashew, Mangoes investor ball in money for more than 20 years? Okay this is the analysis. Imagine you buy 500 pieces hybrid oranges, at #4500 each that will be equal to 2.25million capital investment and you wait for 2 and half years for the orange to grow and start bearing fruits. In your year of harvest i.e after two and half years you sell each trees to people that sell at the market at #5000, they own everything on that tree for the harvest period. Now calculate your investment where you sell all 500 piece at 5000, that is 2.5 million your capital investment in one harvest period and mind you orange produce twice a year using the same calculate it means you will earn 5million naira throughout the year and orange last for almost 20 years if not more, thats 50 million for you in 20 years. and if its local breed the only difference is time it grows to bear fruit and money. It take local four years to start bearing fruit and #3000 per seedlings all selling price and profit remain the same. Search for orange market value. It never depreciate the need for it increases every day because of it useful to health and some individual like juice company and the likes and also it export value. Which means with the right link there is always market for it. This is a huge investment for people that see the future, i have people doing it and making it big time. Contact me on my whatsapp 07039090014 and lets discuss some business. Thank you |

The quoted prices for cultivation of an hectare of maize is clearly ambiguous, ah, ah, even maize intercropped with cassava isn't that expensive nao. Mulching, cost of herbicide N50k, wetin!; Seed 66k for an hectare (2 1\2 acres of land); the yield too, 8-12 tonnes for where!!!! 2 Likes |

grpCaptain: Are you farming on the moon? N521,000 to setup a hectare of maize? Smething I just did on a heavily stumpy land which had been fallow for close to 6 years? Unbelievable! 1 Like |
