if Nnamdi Kanu and his gana were arrested, so why can the northern youth leaders not be arrested? Arrest them. Any fall out from it can be tackled by the police and army. Junaid Mohammed and his travellers who are quick to comment on burning national issues have remained silent on the issue of fulani herdsmen that have taken the law into their hands.

Nnamdi Kanu almost spent two years in jail.

Why can't these Northerners be arrested?

If they aren't, it will only show the hypocrisy of Nigeria and will lead the East to continue with its agitation for peaceful referendum.

Junaid and Yakassai are being intentionally unintelligent trying to compare Igbos to Arewa Youths. Those who issued quit notice are the ones guilty, not those agitating for independence without violence.

Olaleye Aluko, Abuja

A Second Republic lawmaker and Northern elder statesman, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, has warned that the arrest of Arewa youths over the quit notice to Igbo would lead to crisis in the region.

Giving the warning during a chat with Saturday PUNCH on Friday, Mohammed said that the Federal Government demonstrated irresponsibility in its selective handling of the threats from the southern and northern regions of the country.

He said, “The threat to arrest the youth, in my opinion, is not only counter-productive but also inappropriate.
“This is because ideally, with the position of things, every Nigerian has the right to live and conduct their businesses in any part of the country.

“But the Federal Government left their toes behind when they allowed the IPOB, which is being financed by the Igbo political and business elites both in the country and in the Diaspora to be issuing statements freely.

“Therefore, any attempt to arrest Arewa youths will lead to problems. I am resident in Kano State and the last time the Kaduna State Government brought up the issue of arrest, there would have been violence if an attempt to arrest anybody by the police had been made.”

Standing with Mohammed’s submission, the Chairman of Northern Elders Council, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, blamed the Federal Government for not tackling the threats by the IPOB on time, pointing that it led to the present crisis.
He said, “I believe that the Federal Government was somewhat late in addressing the threats issued by the Igbo.

“These threats by both the North and South are unconstitutional and illegal because every Nigerian has the right to live and work in any part of the country he or she chooses.

“I think the Igbo should not allow a man, who was not even born during the civil war to incite violence in the country. Both the Hausa and the Igbo are well travelled traders and if this country splits today, that opportunity is gone, a market of 180 million people. All the regions will suffer for it.

How did these moronic jackasses from the northern region Nigeria arrive at the assumption that they above the law and simply can do anything in Niger-Area without consequences? All these idiotic shenanigans stemmed from the Nigeria/Biafra civil that ended in favor of Niger-Area. I can bet my last cent that northern region would not have lasted for day if the civil war was exclusively between north and east. The defunct eastern region (Biafra) fought northern region, western region, midwestern region, some parts of eastern region, Britain, USSR, Cameroon, Egypt, Niger, Tchad, Canada, Australia and United Arab League. What the hell gives these imbecilic ninnies in northern region of Nigeria the gut to act arrogantly with empty security?

The blood of Nigerians that were shed to liberate you is what you're now throwing on our face and calling a regret. This time you'll have to face the Igbo all by yourself. No single Nigerian blood will be there for you to regret later. The blood of a single human being, to me, is better than all the oil in the world. No one died of hunger in Nigeria pre- oil discovery.

This is one of the most idiotic craps I have ever read from this forum. Who liberated whom from who? I have never heard of ethnic nationality which was colonial master. Sometimes most Nigerians carry deceitful comments on their head. There was no fight or even protest in eastern region as a result of crude oil. As a matter of fact, Nigeria was barely getting the proceeds from the sale of crude oil when Nigeria declared war against eastern region.

Mulitculturalism is a fool's errand. A nation by its very definition is a collection of people united by common descent, history, culture, and language. The root word of "diversity" is divide.
Fear North.

Educated illiterate, I bet you didn't read the Arewa youth declaration before jumping to the above conclusion; and even if you did then I'd have to say you have a terrible problem with basic comprehension; because there was no where in the declaration or their subsequent follow up letter to the Ag. President in which the youths overtly threatened anyone with violence.

Unlike Kanu, who continues breaking all his bail conditions with impunity; they didn't insult or threaten anyone with war/violence; yet they are the only ones being condemned; while Kanu, who should have long been re-arrested, is being completely ignored - what hypocrisy and double standards.
