1. When you express your religious views; you are a religious bigot
2. When you show affinity for your ethnic origin; you are an ethnic jingoist
3. When you talk about your political ideology; you are bias and sectional
4. When you demand change in the current political and economic structure; you are a secessionist
5. When you call for your economic right; you are not a nationalist
6. When you are denied justice and you cry out; you are cautioned for crying foul
7. When you steal public money; stealing is not corruption
8. When you are denied admission or employment based on quota system and you speak out; you are inconsiderate, you want to dominate
9. When you decide to run for the highest office in the land; you are reminded of politics being a game of number and ask to wait
10. When you complain and demand better society and governance; you are reminded to “think of what you can do for your country and not what the country can do for you”
11. When you ask why things are not working well; you are advised to join politics
12. When government lie and you choose to disbelieve; they blame it on social media
13. When government fails to provide social and health amenities and there is epidemic; it is God’s punishment
14. When you win an election, it is free and fair; when you lose, it is rigged
15. When you lose a case in court, “the judiciary is corrupt”; when you win, “the judiciary is the last hope of a common man”
16. When there is a threat to life and property; government is always “on top of the situation” (waiting for the next one to happen)
17. When it favours you, “Nigeria is indissoluble and the unity is not negotiable”; when it doesn't, “we must restructure or go our different ways”
18. When you are chopping, “all Nigerians should live in peace and join hands to build and move the nation forward”; when you are not chopping, “we will make this country ungovernable”
19. Anti-corruption is good if you are not invited; but selective if you are called to explain some figures
20. Our political fathers of 60s and 70s are still singing the same song, “Youths are the leaders of tomorrow” while still in power.
