In other to restructure Nigeria, the current structure has to be removed from the constitution and replaced with the new "restructured" one.

To do this, a motion to restructure must be moved in house of representatives and approved by at least a two thirds majority.

Nigeria has 360 house of rep members. Two thirds of 360 is 240.

Therefore it means that 240 is the magic number of votes that must be reached before Nigeria can be restructured.

The biggest opponents of restructuring are the core North or the NW & NE. There are some in the NC who oppose it but Im going to assume that it is only the core North that are against restructuring. Below are core Norths voting power at the House of Reps in terms of states.

The North West:                       North East:
Jigawa- 11                                Bauchi- 12
Kano- 24                                   Gombe- 6
Kaduna- 16                               Borno- 10
Zamfara- 17                             Yobe- 6
Kebbi- 8                                    Adamawa-8
Sokoto- 11                               Taraba- 6
Katsina- 15
                -------                                         ------

      102                                          48

102 + 48= 150

When you subtract 150 from 360 this leaves 210 which is not up to the 240 needed to pass the bill on restructuring.

In other words, even if the entire SW, SE, SS and the NC voted at the house of representatives in favour of restructuring, it would not be enough unless they managed to attract at least another 30 votes from either the NW or NE which is impossible.

Anyone talking about restructuring should forget it.
