Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike has displaced his Lagos counterpart, Akinwunmi Ambode as the worst Nigerian governor in the weekly YNaija Effectiveness Ranking for Governors.

Wike who was ranked 34th last week achieved this feat due to his silliest of reasons. The sleepy governor who has over the years developed a habit of engaging in media wars with the police decided in the week under to ‘celebrate’ the Supreme Court decision on the PDP chairmanship tussle. As much as Wike is within his right to celebrate anything, as a governor, he ought to be more concerned in the affairs of things that affect the citizenry of his state, instead of focusing on baseless and mundane issues.

Sometime this year, Wike celebrated Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League victory, so it appears that he has a penchant for irrelevancies. Not only did the governor celebrate Makarfi’s victory with a ‘Thanksgiving Service’ in a church, he went ahead to pay for air time on a national television station. This decision is poorly though-out, wicked and childish as Wike squandered the resources of the state to achieve his own personal pleasures. Air time on national stations go for between seven and ten million naira – this fund will go a long way in solving problems within the state.

In the week under review, Ekiti governor, Ayodele Fayose rose three places following his demand that the presidency release the investigative report on the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal and the DG of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Ayo Oke.

Kogi governor, Yahaya Bello rose to the 30th position following the state’s government uncovering an N8.4 billion fraud at the Kogi State University.

There was no change in the top ten positions are all the governors retained their places on the ranking with Sokoto governor, Aminu Tambuwal sitting top for the fourth consecutive week.

OP what are the bases and yardstick for this assessment, if Wike celebrates his party factions victory in the media does that make him a bad governor? You forgot that the victory is not for Markafi or PDP alone, but for Nigerian democracy, you forgot that a strong opposition is a major component of a thriving and successful and advancing democracy, Please be more technical in your analysis and ratings

May be you wanted to say Ambode and Wike are the best governors. These two guys are working. Sentiment apart op should say the truth.
