What exactly is Buhari suffering from?
Prior to his swearing in as president, Buhari travelled abroad to "rest", that is according to his aides. Considering the rigorous campaigns leading to the 2015 presidential elections, as well as his age, it is only necessary that he should rest before assuming office as the C -in - C of the Nigerian armed forces. Since assuming office as president, this I believe is the third time in two years he is abroad on medical grounds.
In his first and shortest of his series of travels, his aides revealed the nature of ailment: ear infection. This however attracted backlash from the ever dynamic nIgerians. To many, ear ache is no reason to travel abroad for treatment.
However in his second and third medical leaves in which he has spent a combined close to 150 days living outside the country while still the elected president, it is therefore a source of worry to nigerians regarding the nature of illness. There have been numerous speculations. Not even the recent assurance by the acting president that the president is in "good spirits" has convinced the ever doubting Thomases. Many are anxious to know the true state of the president.
Many factors can be alluded to why the nature his illness is kept secret. A major factor has to do with security. If knowledge of the nature of the president's illness and current state of health can lead to a security breach, I think the sensible thing to do is keep it secret. Politics and the issue of trust is another reason the nature of his illness is kept secret. The nature of the constitution which ensures the vice president takes over the all president's official duties in acting capacities. By this reckoning, the vice president is technically the "president" pending the return of the elected president. In such a scenario, a vacuum is not created at the presidency, except that there is no vice president inciting capacity following the upgrading of the vice president. Consequently, the VP is performing a dual role of both the president as well as the vice president. And consequently in such periods the acting president traveled out of the country, the country was technically without a president.
As to whether his true state and nature of illness be made public, there are 2 schools of thoughts. The first is that he should be left alone. The president is human and any human can fall sick at anytime. He should therefore be given adequate time to recuperate. They equally believe he has a right to his private life.
However, the second school of thought believed that as president, Buhari is no longer a private property, but rather a public property. That if public funds are being spent on him, nigerians have a right to know what their monies are being used for.
So here is the most important question.
Should the nature of the president's ailment be made public?
Your opinion is important. Thank you.

If the man is indeed capable of speaking, it would have been nice if he just said "hi" to Nigerians.

The more silent they are, the more the hyenas, jackals and vultures circle.
