The Battle of Adwa It was among some of the battles that was fought between Ethiopia and Italy in the 1st Italo-Ethiopia war (late 19th century AD). The Italians who thought they will confidently win the battle were totally humiliated by the multi ethnic Ethiopians led by Emperor Menelik II. The world became shocked and different western country newspapers started to write an article about it. The ppl of Rome gathered in mass and started to shout, "viva Menelik", "viva Taytu". They demanded for the resign of the then Italian gov't which eventually resigned. The victory of Ethiopian at this battle lead for the birth of Ethiopianism and Pan-Africanism movements.
