"He added that because of his increasing political engagement, the time he had for Kolawole became limited."

You're as guilty as the hospital if you couldn't take a break to take care of a loved one.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the Idowu family comprised four children – Kunle , Kolawole, Adeniyi and a younger sister who is in the United States.

Adeniyi, who studied in the Cyprus University , got a job in Dubai where he is now based.

What has this got to do with the story

I am tired of all these one sided stories, let's hear the hospitals side as well.....but since this thread is against doctors, and the society hates doctors, this thread has already gotten to front page

My brother no be small thing.

Doctors and nurses go on strike for better facilities and renumeration; the public doesn't care. But when the reality of a poor health care system comes back to bite them in the a$$ they start complaining.

RIP to the young man.

Good morning sir/ma
please, I fractured my wrist and a cast was placed on it since 6 weeks ago.
my concern now is that, I heard a lot of people saying "An arm cast becomes itchy whenever it's healing" but in my own case, for the past 6 weeks that the arm cast has been there, I've never felt any itches on the wrist.

What could be the cause?
It still doesn't mean your hand isn't healing. Most people do get the itch, few do not.

Its not an exact science that it must itch while it heals. Are you feeling pain in the affected area?

This write up leaves one with so many questions. Why was the grandmother insisting on keeping him their when the decreased complain of not wanting to go back? A case of conspiracy I guess? Was their something she knew that no one else except the doctor knows?
On a good day o, if you are a real parent and the life of your child is involved you won't want to trade it for anything, even if it means trying several options. Also
If the patient didn't die immediately at LASUTH why did it take them so long to conduct their own test to be perfectly sure the case was what it was said to be?
A failed nation where the life of its citizenry means nothing.
This is purely a case of a careless family who needed to sacrifice the life of an innocent boy. If they had spend that much then money was not the problem but stupidity made them lose a dear soul.
RIP son shit happen when the ones we love are the architect of our misfortune. As for the doctors who keeps every patient as practical with no regard for their lives keep at it God is watching you, one day you and your generation will pay dearly. For doctors who'll rather save a live your days of reward are so close.
RIP

This is sad..... sooo many of our doctors are vultures and medical institutions leeches. Some of us learned this the hard way while we were trying to get them to save the life of our fellow Nairalander DJOLA.... who passed in January 2015. Maybe I'm different.... but for the doctor to get the nerve to show up at the family house to apologize? .....search parties would've still been out looking for him.

Not surprised the doctors in government hospitalS are good and intelligent but the problem is that they don't pay attention to patient and they carry out their duty with lackadaisical attitude unto say na government hospital and nor be their own
Na so we take go Fucck up for my aunty matter when arm robber shoot for leg
We rush her go ubth(university of Benin teaching hospital)
But due to their nonsense attitude them nor fit pay attention to her
After about one week we come rush her go private hospital unfortunately them come say we to delay say as the matter come be na to cut the leg. Like play like play no so them take cut the leg
What am saying in essence is in case of serious issues just take the person to a private hospital although the doctors may not be fully fledged but they will pay more attention

i patiently read thru ur pigin english and i understand well and u also make alot of sense and u said the right thing.

I don't think LASUTH has any point at all, they are tactfully trying to shift blames to the referring hospital which,in my opinion,is not tenable. Are they trying to say that as a tertiary hospital that they don't asses patients on their own but solely depend on the diagnosis of a referring hospital? He was referred because it is assumed that they (LASUTH ) has more expertise and are in better position to make appropriate diagnosis and treatment. The referring physician only wrote a referral note and not law that must be followed to the letter.
I seriously still can't comprehend what the CMD is insinuating.....What is the essence of a referral? Even if their management was wrong, the onus lies on the bigger institution to do their thing...Very disappointed!
Re: Graduate Dies After Wrong Diagnosis By Lagos Hospital (photo) by kraftyiyk: 1:56pm On Jul 20, 2017
In this scenario, blame goes to expertise, not the facilities....if facilities must be blamed, it should. be that with whichthe first Dr was trained with.

A complete Physical Examination would have given the first Dr some clue of the possible differential diagnosis of Neurologic etiology eventhough no one is competely infalible of error in diagnosis, from all these explanations, i guess the 1st Dr involved was a bit complacent by ignoring the NEUROLOGIC aspect Physical Examination from the outset.

LASUTH should be exenorated, Nuchal rigidity which was later discovered by the experienced hands in LASUTH is a notorious alarm feature in Medicine that points towards possible meningitis or meningoencephalitis as the case maybe...once again, this would hv been found out earlier on if only ordinary 10 minutes neurologic exam was done from the outset.

patient also manifested seizure, another alarm feature for neurologic cases( meningitisi) for an observant practitioner.

I never saw anywhere it was mentioned that tests were done to ascertain what was the underlying factor for the illness. All I saw were suggestive medication.

Who on earth prescribes and administers Haldol without first conducting some tests. Haldol is extremely deadly when wrongly administered and it EASILY interacts adversely with other medication so is only given under specialised observation.

This is the result of medical negligence. The entire unit that did this should be shut down and aggressively probed.

Surely this victim would not be the only case of medical negligence on record there.
