'Islamisation of Nigeria': Religious alarmists are poor students of history who deliberately refuse to grow in tolerance.
In the late 1980s, Christian Association of Nigeri (CAN) claimed that a TV news reader on NTA, Hauwa Baba Ahmed's covering of her head and chest 'is an attempt' by the FG to 'Islamise Nigeria'. Between that period and now, a lot of women news readers and presenters have worn head and chest covering scarf on national and states-owned TV stations, yet Nigeria has not been Islamised.
2. Also, in 1980s, the same CAN vehemently opposed the idea that public schools close at 1 p.m on every Friday to allow Muslims observe Jumat service. CAN claimed that such closing time for public schools 'is an attempt to Islamise Nigeria.' Between that period and now, public schools have been closing at 1 p.m every Friday, yet Nigeria has not been Islamised.
3. When Nigeria became a member of OIC, the same CAN cried wolf again that it 'is an attempt' by the FG to 'Islamise Nigeria'. Several decades after, Nigeria is still a member of OIC, yet the country is not Islamised.
4. When the CBN was preparing to licence Islamic Banking few years ago, CAN led the media campaign against that policy with the same usual alarm that it 'is an attempt' by the FG to 'Islamise Nigeria'. As at today, in addition to few Islamic finance houses in operation, there are some regular established banks that also have Islamic banking desks. Nigeria is still yet to be Islamised.
5. The current issue about teaching of CRK and IRK in public schools is giving CAN another opportunity to raise its addictive false alarm. The new school curiculum allows every child a freedom to be educated in religion of choice. Again CAN and other Christian leaders are saying it 'is an attemp by the FG to 'Islamise Nigeria'.
Advise: CAN should be advised to learn religious tolerance from Muslims of the Southwest:
For nearly a century until recently, Muslim students at public schools in the old Western Region, and what later became southwest, including Lagos had no freedom of religious knowledge choice. Christianity was the only religious knowledge taught in public schools. In fact the assembly prayer sessions in the morning was compulsorily in Christian Lord's prayers for all students irrespective of faiths.
In a Western Region of that era and even later decades of the 1970/80 that had Muslims and Christians almost evenly spread, the Islamic leadership of the region were tolearnt of the Christia faith. The Muslim leaders did not raise aalarm over Christinisation of Nigeria.
CAN and other Christian groups should be told in clear language that Nigeria is multi-ethnic-religious nation. And no sIngle group can blackmail the other to submission by raising false alarm.

The only thing CAN and Christian Elders are concerned about are Muslims and Islam. Christian leaders and politicians in the 1960s invented the illusion of some Muslims plotting to forcefully Islamise the country to illicit British support and score political point. In fact, in 1966 prominent Muslim leaders and politicians were slaughtered by Christian military officers who accused them of planning to Islamise Nigeria. Up till date they are still blackmailing Muslims with the accusation of Islamisation while they have successfully Christianised the country.
.
These allegations will keep coming as long as it remains the only way Christian leaders in the country can galvanise their base in an attempt to remain relevant. The fact that they have turned churches into dance halls with young girls with excessive make-up and tight clothes roaming the halls has not made the average Christian more committed to Christianity and the Christian establishments. The average Christian still love and idolise misfits like Davido, wizkid, Dbanj and others that sing about their penis, the breast and backside of women. The average Nigeria Christian still prefer beer parlours, gambling centres and night clubs to religious gatherings.
.
As Muslims, we know our community is not perfect. We still suffer from violent and nonviolent extremism within us, but we have acknowledged our challenges and we are striving to contain it. Muslim leaders do not pass irresponsible and wide accusations at Christians. Our brothers in the military had never taken up arms against their Christian colleagues and Christian leaders.
.
Muslims ruled this country for years as military and civilians, they never made any attempt to undermine Christians of this country. When IBB registered Nigeria with the OIC, Christians protested and as a compromise, the colonial entity of Israel was given diplomatic recognition by the IBB government to the dismay of Muslims and to please the country's Christian population who, for whatever reason, feel obligated to support the murderous and criminal entity of Israel.
.
This perceived fear of Islamisation is the only tool Christian leaders has to mobilise their base and it is the only thing that works for them.
.
Buhari is so much hated today, not because of any thing wrong he did, but because he is a committed Muslim. They hate the fact that eighteen out of thirty six ministers are Muslims, leaving "just" eighteen to Christians. This is the only Government that has dared appointed an equal number of Muslims and Christians as Ministers. Bearly over 30% of federal workers are Muslims and over 60% are Christians and the fear is that the government may take step to regularise this irregularity. So they start whinning, nagging and crying foul before hand, over what may likely never happen.
.
The hatred for Buhari has even extended to the Vice President who is a Pastor, an accomplished Senior Advocate and Professor of Law. These people have no morals, no code of conduct, no decency and no honour.
.
Muslims of this country have bent their backs to accommodate Christians because we acknowledge that the country belongs to all of us. Nigeria is already Chriatianised enough, as it is, yet we are not running to the market to shout like badly brought up children and jealous housewife making offensive claims and insinuations.
.
So we are clear, we will continue to strive to make Islam triumph over all other religions, the same way every conscious Christian would strive and prefer that Christianity triumph over Islam. We have no doubt that if we diligently convene the message of Islam to non-Muslims they will choose Islam over any and every other religion. We have no time to cry foul because we have the goods and we know for certain that everything is in the Hands of Allah, the Creator. No amount of blackmail or stupid ranting can change Allah's decree.

You are being economical with the truth. I have my reservations for both religions but I know which among both has the potential for compulsive conversion.

The Christian leaders could be making up imaginary stories but the truth is that their is some logic in whatever madness or mischief they are spreading.

The minds of so many Africans are in mess. First they raped your forefathers. Then destroyed and stole your artifacts. Gave you a new identity and country which you fight to keep.

Religion is useful and if you are going to practise any one let it be because you see sense in it and not because you were born in it. Vatican and Mecca controlling people's minds.

It is very unfortunate Christians have enveloped themselves in Islamization phobia. Many are invariably becoming alarmists, schizophrenics and self delusional. Imagine the comments above from so called Christians.

It's very mischievous to read of " ... Islamization of Nigeria " rants ...

I believe almost everyone of my peer that schooled in Lagos offered and passed CRK, at least in primary school as I did. Had SOP (Songs of Praise) book, read My book of Bible stories, sang Christmas carols, owned and read several Bibles, knows and sings Christian songs 3 days of 5 school-days on assembly line in the morning and had to close eyes for prayers. Stamped indelibly, I still can sing some Christian songs till date. And that wasn't a problem.

I believe the Lagos Muslims, if not SouthWestern Muslims, are the most tolerant in Nigeria.

It's even more disquieting when religious bodies, thought to deputize God and godliness, find sincerity a Herculean task. Demagoguery is not a virtue !

I wrote this,l many days ago let me share it with you, may be your brain can work again:

When it comes to this matter the real illeteracy of nigerian xtians is exposed
1. All courses from primary to university are being taught in english the languange which nigerian xtians are reading their bible, yet nigerian muslims never cry of chrisanization.
2. Muslims must go to work on fridays but saturdays and sundays are declared weekends for xristians to go churches. Yet no muslim cry of christanization.
3. 70% of federal workers are xtians yet muslims never cry of christanization.
4. Of 16 years of pdp rule: 14 years are for southern xtians and only 2 years are for muslims, yet no single muslim cry christanization of nigeria.
The most annoying thing is, the people shouting for this islamization are not even true true xtians they are just politicians. Eg when did ffk become CAN spokeperson?
Another annoying thing is the so called men of god (men of money) who are misguiding their gullible and illeterate xtian followers. I wonder what is the meaning of literacy if the so-calle xtians are literates.

Joel3:

It is not about Christians and Muslims, it is about north and south, it is about Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo, don't alien it with religion. Muslims are never afraid of secession, it is only polical leaders of this country that are holding us.

www.nairaland.com/3852085/what-really-south-east-contribute

let me repeat what I said yesterday:

It is only in Nigeria that you have Acting President a Christian; Speaker of the House of Representatives a Christian; Finance Minister a Christian; Chief Justice of the Federation a Christian; CBN Governor a Christian; Minister of Petroleum a Christian; Deputy Senate President a Christian; Secretary to the Government of the Federation a Christian; Chief of Defence Staff a Christian; Chief of Naval Staff a Christian; DG of Nigeria Intelligence Agency a Christian, and Head of Civil Service of the Federation a Christian, yet you hear lies and propaganda that the President wants to Islamize the country. Please, what is wrong with our elites? Must they continue to support and enjoy corruption at all cost at the expense of the nation?
