An Anambra High Court sitting in Nnewi, yesterday, stopped the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and a faction of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), led by Martin Agbaso, from holding gubernatorial primary in the state.
This followed an exparte application brought before it by a factional national chairman of the party, Chief Victor Oye and 21 others as plaintiffs/applicants.
Oye is contesting an order of mandamus granted to Agbaso by an Enugu High Court, mandating INEC and the police to recognise Agbaso as national chairman of the party in all its dealings.
Delivering judgement on the exparte application, Justice Chukwudi Akaa restrained the electoral umpire and 21 others from taking any step towards organizing, conducting or holding any congress or primary election.
He listed those restrained by the court to include Chief Martin Agbaso, Chief Okechukwu Nkoloagu, Comrade Jerry Obasi and Comrade Chuks Nwogu.
The case was adjourned to Monday, July 24.
