If you really want to stop getting addicted to social media you have to be disciplined and committed. It’s usually very difficult to get rid of any form of addiction.

You’ll definitely feel anxious when you have not logged in for 24 hours because you think you are obviously missing out on important updates. After awhile you realize that these updates are not so important

#1.Deactivate Your Social Media Accounts

If you don’t want to permanently delete your social media account simply deactivate it. Most accounts can be deactivated. Just scroll to the settings and deactivate it for several days. You can focus on yourself but still remain connected with the social media. After you take a break then you can activate it. This helps you to gain some sort of control.

#2.Turn Off Notifications

If you don’t want to deactivate your account you can simply turn off the notifications. This will help you reduce the urge to check your phone every time you hear a beep. Notifications can be very distracting. It is very common for people to pause their conversations and activities just to check their notifications.

#3.Try To Establish Boundaries

Train yourself to be disciplined by establishing boundaries. Only check your social media accounts at certain periods. Also, give yourself a time limit. For example, only spend one hour or less on social media.

#4.Get a hobby to keep you busy

Find a hobby and entertain yourself. This will help you to reduce the amount of time you dedicate to social media.Think about things you enjoy doing and start doing them. Give social media a break.

#5.Spend more time with family and friends

Forget social media when you hang out with your family and friends. Surround yourself with people who make you forget that you even have a cell phone. You will be happier in the presence of wonderful people than sitting on the bed with your phone scrolling through Instagram and Snapchat.
