Nigerian Senate on Tuesday finally adopted and passed the bill to make the Nigerian Peace Corps a para-military agency. In today's plenary, Senator Sekibo seconds that the Senate do receive and consider the issues surrounding the adoption of the report on Nigerian Peace Corps Bill, 2017 The report of the Conference Committee (Nigerian Peace Corps) (NPC) Bill, 2017 (SB. 173 & 183) was presented by Sen. Bayero U. Nafada (Gombe North) #PeaceCorpsBill Senator James Manager seconds that Senate do consider the Conference Committee Report on the Nigerian Peace Corps Bill, 2017.(SB. 173 & 183) And the Senate approved the report on the Nigerian Peace Corps (NPC) (Establishment, etc.) Bill, 2017 (SB. 173 & 183) #PeaceCorpsBill The Senate adopted the conference report on the bill to establish the Nigerian Peace Corps, after it was so advised by its committee on judiciary, human rights and legal matters. Both the Senate and the House of Representatives had separately passed the bill last year. However, after the harmonisation of the two separate bills, the Senate had rejected the harmonised version, which has now been approved. The bill will be sent to President Muhammadu Buhari for assent after the House also approves the harmonised version. |
