Brick can also be weak when produced incorrectly... although it would still be stronger than weak sandcrete blocks. The problem with a lot of sandcrete blocks is the mix ratio. It is better to produce your own blocks on site where you can monitor the mix ratio. Baddestman: |

This is clearly used of inferior quality materials. Looking at the pics, there are more sand than cement in part of the decking. This is just bad. Only if the owner just used his resources correctly and build a story building with good materials.... Funny thing is that it is mainly newly constructed houses that are failing. There are still storey buildings from the 50s still standing today. Why is that? |

lonelydora: What has Dangote's price of Cement got to do with collapse? The entire economy has tanked. Do you expect him to retain hos Cement price at N1,000 because he is father of Nigerians? The price is driven by the state of the economy. 1 Like |

lonelydora: One man in charge of supplying cement in a country of 180 million people. Typical of a zoo country. Cement price shot up by N1000 in one night, never came down, even though the exchange rate of the local currency had tumbled down since the price increase. People now economise cement, or completely stopped building. |
